Invalid Boot.ini

alright i wasnt sure exaclty what topic to put this under since i dont know exactly what kind of problem this is but today i was thinking about flashing my bios so i got my boot disk and everything out and booted with it, it went on to load the drivers and all that but instead of booting to DOS, it went into a windows 2000 setup so i didnt think i was doing the right thin so i hit F3 to exit, and just decided not to flashmy bios due to some replys i got in the forums. but now, when i boot up, i get a message that says "invalid Boot.ini, Booting from C:\winnt\" this isnt a MAJOR problem but it just bugs me....just a little imperfection that i want to get rid of. like they say in Fight Club "its the cut on the top of your mouth that would heal if you could only stop tounging it"

how can i fix this cuz its really getting on my nerves.

c:edit boot.ini attrib -r-h-s

set default to boot from drive and partition that you want.

well i think here's another problem....i ran a search for boot.ini and i guess i dont have one....or at least the search didnt find one....what does this mean? i can still boot up without any problems except this annoying message. could i just copy the boot.ini file from the boot disk that i made into the winnt directory and that would fix it?

go to dos prompt,at c:type what i put


it didn't find it cause its a hidden system file-attrib -r-h-s makes it not hidden

i pasted what you put in there and i got an error that says "cannot find file 'c:edit(or one of its components). Make sure that the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available" im really sorry if im being stupid here but i just dont know anything about this boot stuff.

also, i went to folder options and then the view tab and i turned on the view hidden and system files and i still cant find boot.ini......i dont think i said this before and i dont know if it matters....but im using win2k.

well im just full of problems.....i realized you said "dos prompt" and i tried typing what you said into the start>run dialogue box....so i searched for dos and i cant find my thing to bring up a dosprompt.....i dont know much about do either....just enough to get around in folders and such. any more help would be appreciated.....my icq# is 99479381 so if you have icq, this would be a faster way for me to get help.
