I'm pretty sure that feature has been there since iMessage was introduced.

Yes, but for some reason, mine was not working in iOS7. It would just fail the iMessage and I couldn't send as text. I almost always have Edge service at my desk at work, so it is extremely finnicky when it comes to sending texts / messages. iMessage will routinely not have enough of a connection and revert to text. It was not doing this properly (at least how it did it in iOS6) until the latest update to iOS7.

I just have iMessage turned off 24/7 so I don't have to deal with all that crap.

Yeah for me, it was with certain people...iMessage just wouldn't go through 9 times out of 10 and I'd have to click send as SMS to force it. It's especially annoying when it's someone you talk to a lot. My brother went from a 4S to a 5 and iMessage mostly quit working after that, and since I text him often, it was a pain to remember to do that, especially when you're waiting on an answer to something only to realize you never actually sent the message

iOS 7 on the iPhone 5S is blazing fast. In fact, everything is blazing fast on the 5S. Impressive.

However, TouchID crashed on me once. It just wouldn't recognize ANY finger. Not my trained ones to accept authentication, and not the untrained ones to deny authentication. Rebooted the phone to clear that error.

I totally love the new camera... on the 5S. But that's because it's the 5S, and not so much the interface.

But yeah, iOS 7 is still buggy, and they still need to deal with numerous font issues:

I also couldn't figure out how to search in iOS 7. I activated it by accident a couple of times, but still couldn't find it. I had to look it up - Search the net to find out how to search. Personally I think they should just add an icon for search to Control Center.

Between the iOS 7 rollout and the FCPX rollout, I've been pretty frustrated with Apple. It's the details that kill you. Saturday was just such a frustrating day simply trying to take pictures with my iPhone, something I've been doing for years without issue. When your market cap is over $100 billion and you have over 200 million iOS devices in the world, you'd think you'd do more testing before releasing things...I mean, it's not like it's Android, which is fragmented over a million different device models - there's like less than 10 iPhone models in the wild.

This is the first extremely negative feedback update I've gotten at work across the board from an Apple update, which is extremely disappointing. Most of the time I gloss over it, but since it's affecting me so much personally (like with photography, lag, accidental swipes, etc.) and at work (user complaints, Exchange issues, disappearing calendars, etc.) I feel the need to complain about it online. I mean, at least with FCS7 we could kind of see FCPX coming - no updates in a really long time, then a completely new, very beta product released to the masses missing tons of features that people literally live in day to day.

Still not enough to convince me to switch to Android tho :awe:

Overall, despite the bugs, I have to say I much prefer iOS 7 over iOS 6. Even on the lowly iPhone 4, I'd choose iOS 7. For anything faster than an iPhone 4, iOS 7 is a no-brainer IMO.

I used to feel that way about FCPX, but now I dont miss FCP7 at all. I would still rather have a traditional timeline, but otherwise it works well. Its not like FCP7 didnt have bugs or feature requests.

IOS 7 has grown on me as well. Aside from needing a new case, which I now like better, I dont really have too many complaints.

It's pretty much the same way with me. I really had to get in to the flow of FCPX. There's still a lot that it needs but it's better in a lot of ways than FCP7, especially if you're just editing and passing it off to another program for effects.

iOS 7 also took me a while to get used. I do like it, but there are just a few nitpicks I have with it.

Not being able to show all the text in a box in landscape mode is not one of them though. The text in that box scrolls. Just scroll it if you really want to read it.

I don't really care for iOS7's new look, but I like the new notifications and control center. As for iMessage, I hope Apple gets it sorted out soon. I much prefer iMessage over sms.

Does your search actually work? I never get any results on mine even if I search for something that I know is there. For example, I have Super Hexagon on my phone, and if I search for it by name, I get nothing. If I search via the icon name ("Hexagon"), I get nothing.

hmmm...search works on mine. The list refreshes after every character, and it seems to work.

Ah, I figured out why. I kept thinking, "I should probably 'search' for some settings for Search and see if there's anything awry." Well, I kept forgetting... until now. Yeah, Search was disabled for almost everything but Voice Memos and Reminders. :| I don't know why as I've used it in the past to search for apps and stuff.

Two more bugs:

1. Last night, the phone shut off at 35% battery life. Refused to boot without plugging in, but I was out & about so I was screwed. An hour later it turned on and stayed on the rest of the night. Not overheated, not cold, just shutdown.

2. Alarm did not go off today. Woke up half an hour late. Alarm was still showing green - it did not trigger. Fortunately I have a backup alarm clock, but it will still frustrating because it's kind of my last-minute alarm so that I don't have to ever set it when I have to wake up at different times throughout the month.

Hoping they release some more updates & squash these bugs. I had to write out corporate procedures for resetting the "Hide all calendars" glitch and getting Exchange to show after an iOS7 upgrade

1: Mine has been in the bad habit of shutting down once it hits 16% or so. So now I plug it in every time I have a cable handy. Even driving for 5 minutes, I'll plug it in.

My 5 does the same thing, but it did it prior to iOS 7.

I never had any issues before iOS 7, at least not that I can recall. If it didn't shut itself off at that point, I would do a proper re-calibration. My friend and I are headed to the Apple Store in a couple weeks, maybe I'll have them run diagnostics on it.

1. I don't like that Safari's title bar just shows the website and not the page name. It makes the title bar space usage kinda pointless.

2. When you touch the Safari title bar, it expands. But it doesn't auto-select the title or anything. You have to touch it again to select the title. That is irritating.

3. Safari has periodically crashed on the webpage of this bad article: http://www.wired.com/underwire/2013/10/chinese-food-song-video-racist/ but I don't know if it was an ad or what.

4. I think the animation alignment may be off or something. When the zoom animation finishes, sometimes the screen seems to shift a few pixels, as if the animation finished in the wrong spot and has to correct itself.

5. My Compass level feature may be off by around 1 degree. That is within my expected accuracy of this feature. It's not off 4-5 degrees like with some people. I think this is a hardware issue though, not an issue with iOS 7 per se.

6. With TouchID active, the "Require Passcode" setting is always "Immediately". There are no other options. I don't see the reasoning behind this. Yes, TouchID is great but it'd still be nice to be able to have say a 5 minute window where you didn't have to use TouchID after screen-lock.

7. There is too much empty space in the notification pull-down screen. Because of all the empty space, you need to scroll a lot.

8. There is no easy way to email yourself the contents of a text. If you forward yourself a text to your email address, it comes as a text.

One bug I have encountered twice is ios7 on my iphone 4, when the phone hits absolute zero on the battery and shuts down it needs to be re-activated. has happened twice already. I havent had my iphone 5 drop to absolute zero on the battery so I dont know its it will do this as well.

8: What if you don't have iMessage set up on that email address, does it still come through then? I suppose the only way to do it is to copy the text and paste it into an email, but that is still a couple too many steps. This is a scenario that I have never tried because I didn't have a reason to.

Yeah, that was the weird part. I have iMessage turned off, yet I still got the text when it was sent using my email as the ID. I'm thinking it's probably it was because I have set up iMessage before with my email, even though I have iMessage turned off now.

Copying and pasting works, but it's a bit of a pain.

I guess the reason they do this is that it also brings up the navigation buttons. They don't want to autoselect the title and then bring up the keyboard. But it still seems a little clunky to me.

BTW, for Siri, is there a way of getting it not to use Bing? I have my search engine set for Safari to use Google, but Siri uses Bing anyway. There is no search engine option in the Siri settings. One way around it is to say to Siri "Google AnandTech for iOS 7" and that will use Google, but it'd be nice to have this as the default.

Here's an annoyance:

I have cellular data disabled for a number of apps that I don't want to have soaking up LTE bandwidth and burning through my cap. With cellular data disabled on a per app basis, I'm regularly hit with a, "Cellular Data is Turned Off for 'App Name' You can turn on cellular data for this app in Settings."

I want it disabled on certain apps, but now I have to deal with this prompt when I go to use the apps. It's getting old fast.
