IRQ help

hi, I'm a win2k user and just recently I bought a Logitech QuickCam Express, but it was freezing up on me if i use it more than 3 seconds. I went through this problem with customer support and what it comes down to was that I had everything sharing the same IRQ number (#11). My TNT2, SCSI card, SB live, USB controller, ethernet card, and modem. Does anyone know how to reassign IRQ numbers???

by the way, I tried the device manager but it didn't let me change the IRQ # there, that's why i'm having trouble...

If anyone can let me know, it'd be much appreciated. =)

You are probably running your motherboard with ACPI enabled, ACPI is an advanced power management mode which is set through the BIOS. With Windows 2000 and ACPI it generally forces all pci/agp slots to share one IRQ. Usually this does not cause any problems, but in my old system (Abit KA7) this would cause soundcard trouble. I fixed it by turning OFF ACPI in the BIOS, for your information ACPI options most likely fall under a "Power Management" header. Then when in windows you update your computer from ACPI Uniprocessor PC (i think thats what it was called???) to "Standard PC." This should fix your problems, it did for me.

Be warned this method of turning off ACPI sometimes messes up some peoples systems, there is a much cleaner way of doing this, such as pressing F6 during the windows2k install, though if you resintalled Windows 2000 after turning off this option then it would normally install as a Standard PC anyway.
