Irrational Fears?

Mine is clowns, I FREAKING HATE THEM.

Clowns are due to seeing the movie IT and Killer Clowns from Outer space numerous times when I was like 8 years old. KCOS ive seen since and its horid, but IT still creeps me out to this day. But if your dressed as a clown and come near me, I may kick you and run.

I also hate bugs, especially Bees, Spiders and Centiepedes, pretty much the more legs the more I hate you.

Also I hate needles, but that largely stems from when I had meningitus when I was 13, and the nurse poked my like 15 times before she found my vein, plus they gave me 2 spinal taps.

Vomitting. If I get the slightest sign of nausea I won't eat for at least a full day, and sometimes longer.

Needles. And clowns. And mimes. If you have to wear so much make up to be allowed to be near kids, I ain't trusting you.

We'll I also have a huge fear/dislike of vommiting. If I am sick I will do whatever it takes not to vommit. I'm not sure exactly why this is, but its been there for awhile. Fortunately I don't get sick very often, so I have only vommited once in the last 10 years (we'll and that one other time, but I was too drunk to remember that :disgust: ).

The msot irrational fear I have is being in a small boat on a body of water. ITs ocmpltely irrational becasue I was on the swim team for 10 years, and would have no problem swimming to safety. However, when my body hits really cold water it jsut completely shuts down. And one time I was in a cannoe and it flipped over when it was reallycold out and when i hit the water everything just stopped working. I couldn't breathe for 20 seconds, my heart started beating wildly, and i couldn't move a muscle for 30 seconds. If i hadn't had a life vest on I'm almsot certain I would have died. I don't know if that normal for contact wit cold water, but that has always happened to me, even a cold pool (when i swam sometimes they get the pool real cold which is suppsoed to make you swim faster), but when i would touch the cold water my whole body would usually stop for about 1-2 seconds, which didn't reallyy slow me down much since you pretty much just glide underwater during that time anyways, but its still scarry when your heart just suddenly skips a few beats like that.

Seriosuly though, and don't tell anyone, I have a fear of grates in pools. Return grates, whatever. When I was a kid, right before i got into the indoor olympic pool for lessons, practically the first time I had ever gotten into such a large pool, the kid infront of me told me that...


..urgh....you will think this is silly...


..he said that they kept sharks down there and that I had to be careful if they got loose.

Ever since, even now, if I am not paying attention, if I come face to face with some sort of grate or even an underwater light enclosure, I freak out

Other than that, I don't really consider much to be "fear" reactions. It's more like, "I have a low pain threshold." I don't like stinging insects, biting insects, or needles. They all hurt quite a bit, or can lead to infection (namely the biting insects) and thus I don't react well to them being around me.

Water. Meaning bodies of it. I hate driving by it when the road gets close, and i'd probably die if I randomly was teleported to the middle of the ocean (Heh..well, i'd probably die anyways, but you know..)

Yet I still go swimming. It's just water where I can't see down to the bottom, mainly.

I'll generally go easy on insects, I just throw them outside.

Spiders are a different story. Any spider in my house that I see has just signed its own death sentence. I mean sure, they're useful for catching flies and all, but they can do that OUTSIDE!

That too. Probably explains why I never go into the ocean, even though I live less than a mile away from the beach. I'll take a nice, clear pool, thank-you-very-much =)

and ironically, needles. I work in a hospital. I'm one of the best people to draw blood/start IVs in the whole hospital that isnt a doctor....yet i HATE needles....

I don't like to call or answer.

I also, like others, fear vomiting. And stinging insects. I'm also hypochondric and trypanophobic. I have generalized anxiety, extreme social anxiety.

I also apologize if I sound like a broken record to anybody, but this is the topic.
