My memory is a little fuzzy, but I believe I stopped using Tapatalk after they pulled some BS where the one-time paid version became some free version and then they wanted people to buy the app again.
I don't typically use (cr)apps that duplicate a web browser. Two exceptions on my phone are redreader for the one sub I occasionally check on, cause reddit's interface is complete shit. The alternative is a metric fuckton of js to correct it in a browser. The other is a semi (cr)app. It's a pwa to view lemmy. It isn't essential. Just slightly more convenient, and I didn't bother removing it after checking it out. I'd like to see pwas get more use for phone programs.
I was kind of forced into giving it up. It stopped working, so I informed it's master, he fixed it, and it worked for months after that. When it stopped working again I stopped using it. Just tried it after seeing this thread, and it works again.
