When I read all the first reviews of the 8800GTX's from Tomshardware and Anandtech, they all the said the eVGA's 8800GTX was the best 8800GTX to get. I know that some new ones have come out recently, but is eVGA's 8800GTX still the best 8800GTX?

All 8800GTXs are the same... EVGA is good because they have a kickass warranty and step up program.

In case you are wondering, all brands should perform equally and have roughly the same overclocking potential.

Yes, all stock speed cards should perform the same, but as always, your results may vary when it comes to overclocking.

And eVGA does have a very good warranty and customer service and so does BFG as per my experiences with them both.

I'd buy the cheaper one.. BUT..
If the price difference is small, I'd definitely go for the EVGA..
It seems that it has "marginally" better O/C potential than many brands, and it offers the step-up program which is great for U.S customers.. Mine reaches 670/1100 on stock HSF..
Plus I love the black HSF ..

Can't say about Jetway I've never owned one of their products but I'm very satisfied with 3 EVGAs I've owned thus far..

sorry for stealing your thread here but, how do you oc these cards, do you need to DL some third party application or something?
but I can add something to this thread, the black heatsinks are really nice looking.

I use either Nview or Rivatuner.. I'd choose the latter, which for many ppl has better O/C potential..

Good question... I've probably had to exchange or return almost half of the EVGA cards I've owned because they were somehow defective. That being said, I still like them and buy from them because even if they don't have the best quality control they still end up taking care of you. It seems to me though that they could actually save money if they had slightly stricter quality control or did a burn in on their cards.

I remember one article at the time of the 8800 release said that all the cards are actually made by the same manufacturer. These card companies just decide what heatsink/sticker to place on it and set the stock speeds in the BIOS (although Nvidia didn't allow that with the 8800s).

That's what many of us thought it was the case and the company was ASUS .. Which is not true as this was "confirmed" by some "knowledgeable" ppl..

I was going to go with the XFX version of the GTS. But I went with the Evga because I wanted a lifetime warranty and a step up option. I dont need two lifetime warranties. LoL

eVGA is definitely the way to go if you think you might step up. But the XFX warranty sure does make buying a used card more attractive, since the next owner gets the same lifetime coverage as the first. Of course, I don't see many people having too much trouble getting rid of their eVGA cards either.

Ive been using eVGA cards for the past few years with no issues. As others have said, their support is one of the best from any GPU company.

In addition to the nice step up program, EVGA offers a superclocked version of the 8800GTX which comes faster out of the box without the need for OCing.

Perhaps.

Even if it is, it's more than likely by 1% or so.

With DVI you don't need to worry about 2D output so much. Most cards now are the *same*. If it were me I would buy the card with the best warranty at the lowest price.
