on my 19'' AV-195TF, i have my desktop set 1152x864x32@85hz. on other 17''s that i have previously owned, i never had it at higher rez than 1024x768, for a good bit of time i was very happy with 800x600. for one thing, i loathe myriads of nasty icons filling up my desktop, rather i like few icons whose locations i could tell by heart. for the other, i cant stand supershrinked menues/toolbars etc. how the hell could you stand 1600x1200 on a 19''? not that it gets blurry or anything on my radeon, just seems frustratingly annoying to me.

No it's not just you....I always go 800x600, even though I could go up to 1600x1200.

I have a 19" at 1280X1024 resolution. You get used to the smaller and smaller letters and icons. You have to do it in increments or be really brave and do it in one big jump. I went from 640X480 to 800X600 On my first desktop. Then to 1024X768 on my laptop. Then I got a 19" monitor and to 1600X1200 for a week or two, I hated it. Switched down to 1152 for a few months and finally settled on 1280X1024@32bits. I love the Space available though.

Believe me, once you get used to the higher resolutions you'll stick there. I used to run 1024x768 on my 19" and now I'm on 1280x1024 @85hz. After a while the icons start looking too big and you want cleaner looking ones, and you will want to go smaller. I wish I could got to 1600x1200, but @75hz it bothers my eyes. I swear, anything that is 800x600 looks freakin gigantic now.

I have an Annihilator Pro Card with a 17" monitor, however, i've pretty much stayed at 1024x768 @ 75hz(my monitor cannot handle higher refresh rates)...it works for me!

I tend to switch back and forth between 1024x768 and 1152x864, but I am only on a 17" viewsonic A75f.

When I get my new system I am going to get the Sony 24", and then I am going to pity my days of 1152x864...

I have a 17incher at home running at 1024x768 and now at work I have a 19inch monitor running at 1280x1024. I hate using my monitor at home now. It really irritates the hell out of me.

Running my 19" AV-195TF @ 1280x960. I tried 1600x1200 and it just didn't work out. Things got too small.

1280x960 is my preferred resolution on my 17" here at work, if I had a 19" I'd probably jump to 1440xwhatever it is.

At home I run 1152x864 on a 15".

Some effeciency experts ran tests on monitor res
You are most efficient at 1280X1024
Less or more you are not as fast.
I personally find that 1280 is comfy on 21"
19" 1152
17" 1024
15" 800

19" here.
i run at 1600x1200
and a second 15" at 1024x768 or wutever the heck that is.

for the 1600x1200, its great. it allows me to get a lot more desktop area for multitasking and such
its also a cleaner crisper look.
