Is my KT7-Raid dead?

It started sporadically not booting. Now it doesn?t boot at all. I?ve tried every troubleshooting step I can think of but wanted to post here to see if anyone has a new idea.

The board powers up, the numberlock light flashes, but that?s it. No beeps, no video. I tried removing the board from the case, removing all cards and drives and I get nothing. I even removed the memory and video card and received no error beeps.

I would appreciate any ideas.

I know this is obvious, but have you tried clearing your BIOS? (Removing the CMOS battery)? You didn't mention doing it. The next step I can think of is replacing your video card with something plain for testing.

Boot-up procedure:

Video first, then processor, then memory check, then IDE/SCSI load, then PCI detection. Generally you get the beep right near the CPU/mem checking. So if you cant get this far, I would guess at Vcard or BIOS.

Yeah I've cleared it, and tried a new known good video card. The only thing I haven't tried is a new CPU. But because it worked fine while it was flaky and still booting, so I think the CPU is fine. I think with an intermitent problem, like maybe a short somewhere, it would most likely be caused by the MB. I need a cheap replacement so I'm off to buy a Biostar M7VIG pro from newegg.

How old is the PS that's powering this mobo? I have a KT7R (it runs my server) that's about 3 years old, as is the PS. But the PS is an Antec 300W. Is yours a decent PS or a no-name? Sporadic problems are often power-related.

Have a KT7A-Raid, did the same thing...... it was the power supply that crapped out. Try another power supply. Borrow one if you don't have an extra. If it works then you can buy a new one.

That is one thing I haven't tried. It's a generic 300W PS, but it's only 14 months old. Still, It's a cheapie. I'll try a different one. Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm declaring the board dead. I tried a known good PS and it didn't change anything. It's really a shame too because it's a very good board I would have liked to have had it in a spare system when I upgraded the computer.

Any bad caps? My old KT7A-RAID(friend has it now) has a bunch of bulging caps that need replacing.
