Is my mobo fried?

Here is the mobo I bought for the PC I'm building for my dad:

http://www.newegg.com/product/...x?Item=N82E16813153073

Now the case powers on fine, the power button works. All the fans run, the heatsink as well. When I first turned it on I noticed I wasn't getting any video from the on board video and that my cd drive tray wasn't opening or flashing green.

So to try to resolve my video issue I put a Radeon x800 256mb card in there. I'm not sure if its PCI express 1 or 16x but I put it in anyway to see if I could get video. Still nothing, and the video card is powering up because the fan is spinning.

My cd drive I have no idea why it is not even powered on. Being that this is a SFF computer I used the same line of power connectors that my hard drive and back fan are connected with. I'm just stumped, I have no idea why things are acting the way they are and if you need more info I'll be happy to help

Surely you tested the mb. cpu, and a stick of ram on the bench before assembling everything, right?

Is the "reset cmos" jumper in the right position?

He can't do that because his system won't POST. Off the top of my head I would say your mobo is the problem. Jetway isn't really one of the high quality brand name manufacturers out there. Only other thing to check is to make sure that the memory you are using is good. Trying putting in memory that is KNOWN to be good.

I had a similar problem with a different motherboard. The fans turned on, but nothing else happened. From every case i have seen of this the motherboard is at fault.

Best bet would be to RMA the motherboard if you can.

If it helps I plugged the cd drive into my current desktop and it powered which leads me to believe the power supply supplied in the case is faulty.

I think the board is the problem, not sure if it's friend or just junk, jetway main corporate office does not ackownledge it exsists, and the other jetway refuses to give basic spec info about the board out without you emailing them. I'd return the board immediately and get a better one from someone other than jetway.

Sorry, should have explained. Basically if it is still under warranty you send it back.. they test it, see that it failed and send a replacement.

Or just return it to where you bought it if you can, thats usually easier.

Well I just ordered a new power supply. I dont think its the mobo because the cpu powers up so I came to the conclusion that my power supply was faulty and had some bad connections. My new power supply will come tomorrow. Is this good logic?

Well the only test I did was plugging my cd drive into my other PC's power supply and the cd drive worked. The cpu was running and the case switches and LED display also worked.

That test does absolutely nothing to confirm that the PSU is the problem. The only thing you confirmed is that the optical drive works and your other computer works. If your motherboard is shorting out or faulty, it will prevent the other components in your system from powering up.

Posting this with the exact same Gigabyte mb you just got and running it on the bench (modding my main rig). Using the onboard vid, running 2 sticks of the cheapo 1gb HP 667 ram and an X2 3800. It required nothing special to get running.

Is your ram 1.8v? Mine would not post with a couple of sticks of ram rated for 2.0v (PQI Turbo). It also worked with KVR 800 and Super Talent 667 Is there a stick in the first ram slot?

Interestingly, I bought the same psu as you did too. I intended to eventually put this mb in an old Emachines box that needs a matx psu. I believe it should power it without a problem, although it is still in the box.
