Is my power supply dying

Hi folks,

Today my computer starts to reboot shortly after Windows 7 logon screen after I type in the password (sometimes before that screen even appears).

I tried differential diagnostics, and here's the result:

It reboots when video card is plugged in and CPU is OC'ed.
It reboots when video card is plugged in and CPU is NOT OC'ed.
It reboots when video card is NOT plugged in and CPU is OC'ed.
It does not reboots when video card is NOT plugged in and CPU is NOT OC'ed.

I think it rules out the problem with video card, CPU, and memory.

Is it because my PSU is dying? Or is it motherboard's power supply problem?

My spec:
Built around two years ago
Core i5 3570K (oc'ed to 4.3GHz for two years no problem; cooled with Hyper 212). Temperature is fine (never exceeds 50C under load)
AMD HD7870
Ripjaw DDR3 1600 4Gx2
Asrock Z77 Extreme4
OCZ 600W modular PSU

This is very odd. You are the seventh person to have problems recently with the ASRock Z77 Extreme 4 board. My PC died three or four days ago and if you check around this forum and the motherboard forum, you will see a lot more people suffering from dead PCs using the ASRock Z77 Extreme 4. I just ordered a new PSU and I'm hoping it's not the motherboard.

Could be a board problem, but a power supply with the OCZ name on it would be more likely, based on the behavior.

Another vote for PSU problem. It probably has or had a 3 yr. warranty. If in warranty I'd RMA it. If out of warranty I'd open it up and look for vented capacitors as that's a common cause of still running but worsening load capability.

Be aware - Power supplies (especially the BIG capacitors) can carry enough electricity, even when the PC is switched off, to kill someone.

Once the power plug is pulled it will have drained to a safe voltage within seconds, far shorter than it takes to unscrew the lid. Even if it didn't have bleeder resistors it still powers 5VSB to drain those caps.

I want to give you guys an update.

Yes it is the problem with the power supply. I got a Corsair CX600 and the computer is running as what it's supposed to.

I won't touch any OCZ products with a three feet pole in the future.

^ The Corsair CX600 may also be about the same quality level. Neither is bad but if it's the capacitors as I suggested then something like a Seasonic (or XFX equivalent, among others) gets you one tier higher with better quality Japanese capacitors.
