Is my R9 390 dead?

Hi guys,

I've been using my MSI R9 390 for about a week now.
Last night while playing a game, the whole PC shut down.
I was not able to start it up again.

Here are my specs below:

Core i7 6700K
8GB *2 DDR4 LPX corsair vengeance
Samsung 250GB Evo 850
3TB Seagate hard drive
Corsair H100i GTX
Asus Maximus VIII Ranger
Corsair Graphite Series 780T Black
Seasonic M12-2 Evo 750w

This morning after a few tests:

With the video card installed:
The system does not reach BIOS.
There are no errors on the motherboard diagnostic leds.
I tried the video card in another PCI-e slot, still not working.
I tried new power cables, tried different slots from the power supply.
The system tries to start up but then stops.
The fans on the card never spin.
Also i didn't oc the card, been using default settings.

With the card removed:
I can boot into the BIOS.
I can boot into Windows.
The system is working fine without the card installed.
I connected an old video card and that seems to be working fine as well.

Can i confirm that the card is dead?

Sounds like it.

Seems like you have narrowed it down to the card.

Everything points to a dead card as you quite extensively tested.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies.

I have logged a ticket with MSI and sent my supplier an email (Unfortunately they are closed and only reopen 4 Jan 2016).

You said you've only had it for a week. Have you contacted the place where you bought it? You might get faster service exchanging it.

Hi TemjinGold, unfortunately they closed and only open on the 4 Jan 2016.

it'll probably still end up being faster to return to the retailer than to go through the RMA process, even if you can only get back to the retailer on the 4th. Everywhere is going to be moving slow for the holidays, and RMAs always take a long time. Provided you're still in your 30 day window
