Is Napster alive?

Hi!
I am wondering if I can still use Napster to get mp3's without charge.

I haven't used it for a few months, so don't know what's going on.

Well the best way to find that out, obviously, would be to sign off here and sign on there ???
You can still get some stuff.
Try limewire.com or AudioGalaxy for a better choice.

Don't bother with Audiogalaxy or Limelight. Use morphius

Its much better as it does concurrent d/l from multiple users to give you the fastest speeds available. It also enables you to share things other than MP3's (ie movies and programs)... but only shareware, of course

Ouch someone didn't eat his wheaties this morning. Cable and DSL are available to less then half of North America and even less of the rest of the world, so instead of complaining here, why not write letters on the behalf of those that can't get Cable/DSL to your local TeleCo and Cable companies.

WinMX doesn't look like my style... I personally don't like the design of the web page.

I really do enjoy Morphius though.... got a copy of Tomb Raider (movie) the other day, and it actually went quick too! Works on the same principle as WinMX, as a giant peer-to-peer network, but it has tons of members already signed up as well. If only they could tie together all the newer ones to make one giant one, it would be sooooooooo much better

Try audiognome it seems to work best if you have a higher connection it always turns out like 1000 results to a group for me ! Althought you can cap uploads so i guess yours can be capped too !! But you can search other programs that dont allow that option so its all good !!!

Yes, Napigator makes Napster passable, but many of the alternative nap servers are slow. Can still be good, however.

Try aimster...It seems to work better than the other alterantives...at least for me anyway. I have tried about 10 napster replacements in the past month and aimster seems to give me better results.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner. I've been saying this all along. Napster wasn't great because of the servers, it was great because everyone used it!

On another note, napster now requires you use their version 10 software, which filters out copyrighted songs.

I totally agree with that statement !! Although for now audiognome suits me just fine I can search like 50 servers at once giveing me like 40,000 gigs only thing that sucks is that people dont seem to want to share anymore lots of remotely queud crap like that when i go on its always like 10 uploads 2 downloads but i always seem to find what im looking for I would really be lost without this cabal connection !! Im spoiled rotten

Not correct. I use napigator and can connect to an opennap server with napster client 8.4

They want you to believe that you can only use 10.3 beta.

WinMX gets my vote. I like Morpheus too, but until I can't find something on WinMX, I'll continue to use it...peer to peer rules!

I like WinMX too. It's the closest to Napster IMO. Good selection of songs (people must be using it) and pretty fast downloads unlike Limewire. I have a broadband connection and can't go back to 3 k/s downloads after I'm used to at least 30, if not way more.

I took a look at Morphius and couldn't see where you download software or use it. I looked at Audiogalaxy also. Is Audiogalaxy web based?

Napster is on life support. I don't think it's going to pull through.

get winmx. it can be found Here and it is a great program. Every song that I have looked for, I have found so far. Also you can find movies and old tv shows in winmx.
