Is Skylake worth waiting for?

I'm very tempted to pull the trigger on the new Dell XPS 13. With the $100 coupon, you can get the matte 1080p model equipped with a Core i5-5200U, 8GB RAM, and a 256GB SSD for $1000. I've been waiting to get a new notebook for several years now and this is the first one that checks all the right boxes (high quality display, solid battery life, respectable CPU performance, SSD, sufficient RAM, decent industrial design, compact and lightweight, acceptable keyboard and touchpad) without breaking the bank IMO. That having been said, I would also feel somewhat impulsive and shortsighted springing for a high-end laptop now as Skylake and Windows 10 laptops should be available by year-end. Do you think Skylake will be worth waiting for?

Too expensive for me, I'm definitely gonna wait to see what's in store for Braswell and Windows 10 in the $200 category, or maybe an i3 Broadwell/Skylake under $400. Anything above 1024x768 is difficult to read and zooming everything to unnatural levels is annoying though imo... long live 16:10 and 4:3

Go with that XPS 13. It is a fantastic machine and waiting for skylake won't yield anything tangible enough for you to be disappointed.

Something new will always be around the corner. Just the buy the best of what you can that's currently out.

I was going to wait for Skylake...but I succumbed to the XPS 13's charm.

I went ahead and placed an order for the XPS 13. I'm not planning on using the PC for anything particularly performance intensive (that's what my desktop is for), and since it already has solid battery life, I don't know how much of an advantage Skylake would give me.

This is an outstanding deal, assuming Dell didn't screw up the build, or touchpad or something.

I wouldn't call Skylake mobile just around the corner either, I have a feeling it's going to be awhile, 6-9 months at least.
