Is this a bad sector?

I did a ChkDsk and I got that error then I went into the event viewer to check it out and didn't really see anything that said "sector" or "cluster". Is there any other way to check because I'm not too good with computers so it might be there and I'm just missing it, thanks.

That error means you just did a read test and didn't fix any problems found since you didn't specify the /f parameter

You didn't say WHY you are running Chkdsk. If you believe your hard drive is failing, it'd be best to copy off any important data NOW, before running a Chkdsk, especially the very-long "Chkdsk /r" version that scans the surface and "repairs" the disk.

I'm running it because when I try to change my music's file names it gives me this error, "a disk error occurred during the write operation" and searched about it and some said it might be from a bad sector. Is there a way to fix this? (not the bad sector but the file name changing).

Anyways, I did a chkdsk c: /f and this is what I got, I'm assuming this means there are no bad sectors..

Another thing I wanted to add is that this error wasn't happening when I had vista, it happened after I reformatted and installed an XP pro OS.

Run a "Chkdsk /r" on the drive. That actually scans the entire disk surface. If it reports bad sectors, I'd replace the drive.

Chkdsk will lock out the bad sectors, but there's a fair chance the error will come back. Drives are cheap and data recovery is not.

Alright I'll do that but I wanna leave it over night because it takes long to run that, is there anyway I can check the results from the computer?

After it's done, check the "Application Event" log in Computer Management. There'll be a "Chkdsk" event. The text will show the results.

Also, while you are there, take a look at the "System Event" log. That'll show disk-related errors in a couple of different ways.

You can also run the drive maker's disk diagnostics program. In fact, most of them will work on hard drives made by other manufacturers. Some run from Windows, others run from a boot CD. You could run a couple of different ones just to be sure.
