its not even an intel computer!!

I can see why you believed that computer to be sufficient. That AMD processor close to twice as well as your beloved Pentium 2.8, at much cooler temperatures. It also supports 64-bit applications, which should be coming out in the short future. Go with AMD. You will not be disappointed.

So u said u worked on emachines, the older crapbox ones, and now are saying that the emachine dekstop computers, the two i mentioned are better then the dell dimension 3000 an dell dimension 4700? hmm

AND IM NO LONGER GETTING A REFURB, ITS A NEW DELL OR NEW EMACHINES FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD HERE.

you also said that the parts they use now are better then what they used to use, which scares me because what they used to use was defiantly crap, is this just a tad bit better crap?

Off topic but you would be surprised to know that more people have those 2 cars then dells. Dell sells alot of computers to alot of work places. Thats their bread and butter. They do sell alot of home computers but the U.S. as whole has alot of pessimistic people and not being able to see your computer before you buy it scares people off. you also have the peole who are not websavy enough to go online and make any personal choices and calling on the phone is to anti personal for them.

LCD or CRT. The basic Features of the 6510 and 20 are the same just a step down on memory hdd and CPU so the 6510 should work perfectly fine for you.

That should work alright a bit old but it should do and $15 is super cheap that it is almost worth it if it doesn't work.

if you go to a best buy, compusa, circuit city. they will have packages with the t6510 with a computer monitor and printer...but their will be mail in rebates...so you'd probably be better off with getting a cheap crt.

With these Selections your best bet is the Dell (the monitors) . It looks more recent and i believe it will be more stable. Don't get a used 15 inch CRT to many chances of having resolution or refesh problems.

Bigben2wardpitt, you should trust 95% of the people on these forums. We WILL guide you in the correct path, trust us. Like someone else said, Dell and eMachines do not make any of the components, set aside maybe the case and monitor. Those two eMachines are much better than the Dells that you have listed. Anyways...

if you can get a monitor for like $15 its gonna be a better deal than the hassle of all the mail in rebates.

you should go with the the emachines. i actually own one of the more recent models (the new, non crappy models)

they are fast, and read:VERY RELIABLE (left it on for almost a year, non stop, still going strong) and its not just me cause my friend owns a similar emachines and its just as robust. it also very flexible w/ upgrades.

the only thing that annoys me is the software that comes w/ it. but, if ur like me, i just did a fresh install of a clean windows xp and wham, awesome computer for a low price. the cd drives on mine are a little screwy (get stuck half way ejecting, u have to pull it out) but it works properly and i can live w/ it. my friends comp doesnt have that cd issue so all is well.

hope this helps!
