Is this bad for these components?

I thought you weren't supposed to put bare RAM, CPUs, or video cards on just any surface. Came across this on Craigslist...is this kind of thing a red flag, or is it not a problem? TIA

I might consider it a "red flag", if it were a shag carpet, but wood should be OK.

years ago i won an amd cpu at an event

prior to my winning the amd engineer was walking around the room showing it off. no box, carpet floor, ect

cpu is still running fine 10 years later
