if you notice its a slot "a" motherboard, that means you have no upgrade options all the athlon/durons made in the last year have all been socketA not slotA

i hate to give recommendations on what you might want without knowing what you have to spend and what type of "toy" you are looking for

maybe a little more info on what you want?

hmmm i really would stay away from a slotA board then (unlike slot1 there is no adapter to convert slota-socketa)

yeah durons are very cheap and very overclockable

as for boards if you want something not to expensive but good for overclocking and nice and stable i really like the epox 8kta3 (around $90) this uses pc133 ram

if you want to spend more and still stay with pc133 ram you might want to look at the iwill kk266 or the asus a7v133, both are good boards and will cost between $110 and $120

if you want to go even a little higher you can get one of the new ddr board (you would have to buy new ddr ram, www.crucial.com has 256mb of ddr for about $60)
in that case i would say get the epox 8k7a or gigabyte ga-7dx they are around $130-$140

the price are from www.newegg.com (one of the best online places to buy pc stuff)

tbirds are a little faster on average the tbird is about 5-10% faster at equal clock speed

so.... for example an 800mhz duron will perform about the same as a 750mhz athlon
basically if you want really high performance you need the tbird, other wise get what is the best price/performance

I recomend you stay away from tigerdirect motherboards and mail order. I have seen more customers get burned then I care to discuss. The mobos are crap, and TigerDirect service absolutely sucks eggs. If you are looking to build a PC,go to your local computer dealer and check out what they have and recommend. If you want a specific mobo and CPU arrangement and you do your research from here, more than likely your local PC shop can get it for you.

Stay away from $99 bargain combos. You will get burned.

ive bought alot of stuff online (and friends who have also bought alot of stuff online) and as long as i buy from reputable sites ive had less trouble buying online then buying from local pc stores

most of the people who work in the local pc stores in my area dont know crap about pc's, just the other day i was at one getting a couple audio cables for cdroms and i almost laughed out loud at the load of crap the kid working there was telling one of his customer. heheeh but who am i to butt in and set him straight i just held my tongue and bought my cables

Bying over the net is certainly the better choice.
I do it all the time, no problemo.

IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WANT.

but first you should check out other people experience with that particular vendor.
like http://www.resellerrating.com

...according to that page, I would not buy at T.....

Yeah,
Most deffinately stay from the Tiger "deals". Slot A is done for and has no upgrade paths, and the AMD 751 chipset was not the hottest to begin with. Think about it...You can have the $30 duron and $90 Epox board for only $20 more than the "bargain" setup and have a better machine that is upgradeable later as you save more cash up.

Here's what i did.
1) Bought asus a7v133 from Newegg (they have other quality boards at good price.)
2) Bought duron 750 from Newegg for $35 (can't beat that.)
3) Bought a ho'bunch o tonicom pc166 for $40 per 256mb at neutron

See my rig listing below. Now that's bang for your buck while maintaining future upgradability.....Sweet....
