I agree with Preyhunter. It is a stereotypical viewpoint, not racist.
ANYTHING can be considered racist. It is all how you wish to interpret it. Any statement directed toward a specific race, culture or relgion can be misconstrued as a racial or prejudiced statement. It doesn't matter what the statement is, just the interpretation of the person hearing/seeing the statement. Prejudice and racism are just overrated. If we all didn't have skin, someone would find another reason to be prejudiced. It is unfortunately human nature to find faults in others, and ignore our own faults.

First I would like to state that "hiring quotas" is illegal. Quotas have been struck down by the Supreme Court. However, AA in other forms is perfectly legal.

I agree with Intake. I don't believe in AA. It should be outlawed. Most people agree that the most successful corporations are diverse. They can cater to China, Japan and other countries because they have chinese and japanese people working for them. Corporations that aren't diverse will probably go out of business or merge with another company that is diverse.

If I ran a modeling agency then I would want pretty or handsome receptionists helping my clients and potential "new faces." Thats not racist nor discrimination. Its good business.

People are way to sensitive. White men usually aren't successful in the NBA or NFL. Is that racist? Probably, but who cares. The statement is probably agreed upon by most of the members of AT. There are certain characteristics of white women, white men, black women, and black men, and so forth, and that certainly doesn't mean that we can't use those characteristics in statements or everyday conversation.

Characteristics make us unique. People need to embrace those things or change what they don't like, but don't tell someone else they can't say it because that violates "freedom of speech."

First off for all you who believe black people are commiting all these crimes, here's something for you to think about if you have a brain. Here in NJ there was a investigation into racial profiling. Racism at its highest IMO. On the NJ turnpike black motorists make only 12% of the drivers that travel on the turnpike. But made up just over 50% of all the traffic stops. Now if that ain't singling out one race and don't know what it is.

And I wish dumba$$es would stop bringing up things before they do their homework. The United Negro College Fund was established in the 1940's when blacks were not allowed to attend WHITE colleges. Blacks did not recieve federal help for tuition in the land of freedom here during that time to help pay for college. So the UNCF came into being. And has continued to help bridge the gap that still exists today. This program and all of the programs were created out of need, not desire. Blacks had to do things on their own to become educated along with other things. Because white people just wanted to see blacks hung, not sucessful. Not all white people, but I would guess 60%. Lets put it this way for all the lynchings, killings, and harm done during this period very few people were brought to justice.

So these programs that have been good just continue today and should continue. Its amazing when I read such ridiculous stuff. I don't see to many blacks taking law in Yale or Harvard. But see a whole lot at Lincoln and Temple. You people just don't get it. Where do most of you live, in a box. There is no doubt in mind most of you just watch TV and get these stupid ideas and believe they are true. Life is not Young and the Restless. Racism is very real and unless we all become physically blind racism will always be here. Because as long we, both black and white can see color fear will always be at the forefront. My only problem is that on this board which is heavily white, there seems to be this poor me attitude, along with blaming all our racial problems on the people who were the victims of racial injustice and continue to be the victims. Instead of speaking up against racism most of you want to find reasons to put blame everywhere else than where it belongs. Our country's entire history is founded on racism and the last time I checked, our history wasn't shaped by blacks or minorities.

God, I love America! And thus I love all of YOU.

But you've hit near the truth--the trouble is not race (don't get me wrong, there will always be racist prejudice), the trouble is class. That left wing you are parroting keeps complaining about the poverty but does nothing to cure it. Why? Because they don't want to cure it, they want to exploit it for their own purposes. Hence you have the Al Sharptons, the Jesse Jacksons and other racist black leaders. They stir up trouble but do nothing to actually fix anything. They grow rich and the black population stays poor.

A black person does have the opportunity to attend Harvard and Yale. Their admissions are strict requiring a 3.75-3.95 GPA (woohoo I have a 3.92), and they require a 170+ on the LSAT (haven't taken it yet ). If a black person meets this requirement they will be admitted. Why? Because Harvard and Yale do look for minority candidates. They can't let in a 3.3 or 3.5 GPA because it will reduce the superiority of a Harvard/Yale degree. You do have to work for what you obtain in life.

Im white and I get pulled over all the time, sometimes for doing illegal things sometimes not. And guess what by white cops wow a white cop pulling over a white person imagine that!?

I worked with a guy before and he got pulled over got 2 tickets speeding and seatbelt. He was black, the cop was black....Racial profiling, hmmmmmm NO.

So if a white cop sees an african american speeding he shouldnt pull them over, thats the message Im getting. Only african american cops should pull over african american offenders.

So the next time someone breaks into my house, I should make sure the police send only cops of the same race *to be fair* as the person that is stealing my possesions which I worked hard for!

Here's a story:

I was taking computer classes at a tech school. I am a white male. I don't consider myself a racist, and I try to treat everyone equally no matter what. The school that I attended was roughly 70% Black, and 30% white. About half way through one semester I got to talking to some of the Black students in my class. We had a few good laughs. Then one of the girls said something that disturbed me. &quot;You're really funny, I thought I would never talk to you.&quot; When I asked why she said, &quot;I thought you were a racist.&quot;

I sat there with my mouth open, shocked. When asked for a reason she said she just thought so. That was the first time that I was prejudged. These people didn't even know me, not a thing about me, yet they thought I was a racist.

My only reply was, &quot;Aren't you being a racist now?&quot;

That was the last time the subject was brought up. It didn't change anything, and we all still got along and had great times through the whole program. I just won't ever understand why someone would think that way about me.

Listen, youcan say alot of things with statistics. Some groups have certain characteristics not becuase of color but because of other factors. Certain differences in culture and family that are effected by race can affect those factors. Here's some random statistics on groups
2/3 of all parking lot accidents are women.
90% of people who get locked out of their hotel room buck naked are men

y? no clue, people in different groups are just prone to different things. While this groups aren'talways divided by race they sometimes are. The Black/White line is just much easier to see than the middle class/lower class or things like that so it gets publicized more.
