Is this RAM overvolted?

Before I order my new system, which uses 2 2gb sticks of Skill DDR2 1066 RAM...

I just want to check in here real quick. I read a comment here on the forums that this RAM is "overvolted"... is this true? Would I be better of with Gskills DDR2 1000 RAM, which is only five dollars less?

If by overvolted they mean above stock 1.8v, then yes, most good ram are "overvolted". The only good G.SKILL is HZ.

And wtf, not true.

HZ is good for heavy OCing, sure, but these days people want 4+ GB, not 2x1 GB.

4x1 GB = more hassle, which is why 2x2 GB makes a lot of sense.

dajini92, that RAM you are considering is an awesome deal...definitely what i'd buy if i was buying 8 GB today (or 4 GB ).

You can go wrong with that for $90...it was $150 a few weeks ago

1.9V is still within JEDEC allowance (1.8V +/- 0.1V), so anything above 1.9V.

And by "good", I assume your meaning is that overvolted ram usually permits higher frequencies and/or lower timings to be reached, which translates into higher memory performance, not "good" as in more stable, more compatible, lower thermal dissipation, or better failure/reliability metrics. Because overvolted (and overclocked) ram can only promote or result in the opposite of all those things.
