Is Trump still throwing rallies?

Just read that he responded to the recent block of the 2nd travel ban at a rally he was throwing.

I'm confused, he's won the election, why is he still doing rallies? Did any other currently sitting presidents throw rallies?

I'll understand if the term 'rally' was improperly used and it was a ribbon cutting or something similar and he was there for a purpose other to then to celebrate himself.

Usually Presidents wait at least 6 months or until they have accomplished something. This guy has had 6 before his first 100 days. He needs constant ego stroking.

He's not stable.

He is indeed. He already started his campaign push for next election. This gives him the ability to raise money for his future campaign (and to pay for these rallies) as well as control those who enter (this is not a public event so no dissenters!).

He's making sure his message is front and center with the electorate. It's a method to pressure Congress to answer to their constituents. We're transitioning from a government that answers to their donors to one that respects that the power lies with the people.

It's a scary thing to some people which is curious because nearly everybody wants to get big money out of government but many still want it flowing to their team.

Being president is hard work where you get criticized a lot even if you're good at it and at least by the results so far Trump is really, really bad at it. He can't get anything done and the pressure/criticism is constant. If you have narcissistic personality disorder as he likely does that has to be incredibly hard to deal with.

So what does he do? First, he seems to go on vacation every single weekend to his resort where people like him, which is ironic considering he criticized Obama for golfing too much and second, he throws rallies where people cheer for him.

Frankly, considering the chaos he causes when he actually tries to be the president I hope he spends all of his time at these rallies.

Did you hear that everyone? The guy who has filled his cabinet with ultra rich Wall Street bankers is doing it because he wants the government to respond to the needs of the people.

Lol.

You know what's funny about that statement? What wasn't part of his message at the rally. He did not mention a word about the biggest bill being put forth by the GOP right now. The AHCA. Kind of hard to keep that pressure on when you aren't even talking about the single biggest issue facing Congress.

Why would he be touting this bill that is for all intents and purposes DOA? You promote something that is an improvement, something that is functional. Putting pressure on to pass deeply flawed legislation is what got us 0bamacare in the first place.

Because he and his staff have very publicly said they were behind it. That they supported it. That the Congress needs to vote for it or face a catastrophic collapse in the mid-terms. But he gets in front of the people who he needs to sell it to and he is silent. The entire purpose of the bully pulpit is to sway the voters to side with their reps. so the reps. will vote for the measure.

"repeal and replace" was never based on improving the healthcare system. It was all about sticking it to Obama. Fair to disagree with the ACA but it was about fixing our system.

Problem is Republicans never thought they would totally own it. Like Trump figured out too late "this stuff is hard"

I read yesterday he now plans to hold a rally event every two weeks
For real? Come on...

I watched about 5 mins of that rally last night. Absolutely nothing said with any weight or meaning. Complete fluff and buzz words eaten up by the crowd.

Your brain on stupid.

I remember a time log ago where Trump and conservatives criticized Obama for campaigning (3 years into his term) instead of dealing with all the problems of our country. How times have changed.

What amuses me is watching these people get conned by Trump. The people who voted for him are the same people who get swindled by used car salesman and Trump University. The same kind of people the CPFB was set up to protect.

Maybe he can build some sort of rallyplex. Something tasteful with pillars and shit.
A nice viewing stand for himself to watch everything. Maybe salute the people. Oooh a parade area. Everyone loves a parade! Some colorful banners..... I can see it all now.

Its not as much an intelligence thing its putting your morals on the shelf. We all knew he is a serial liar but they were willing to live with that as long as its not the black guy.

I watched about 5 minutes and it was nothing but "THE DEMOCRATS ARE OBSTRUCTING THIS BILL. OBAMACARE IS HORRIBLE. DEMOCRATS ARE HORRIBLE. THIS BILL IS AMAZING. BY THE WAY DEMOCRATS SUCK."

That's what I took away from the rally. As far as "what the constituents" want...well less than 1/4 want this shit stained replacement bill. And well over half think he's doing an absolute shit job, and that number of people is continuing to grow. Even the poll that trumpers clung to - Rassmussen has cracked. It's now down to 53% disapproval. Oh the constituents are signalling. And it's not in his favor.

If I recall correctly, one of Obama's earlier nicknames was the Campaigner-in-Chief. He was out and about constantly campaigning early on in his presidency. I don't like that he did it back then and I don't like that Trump does it now but I guess that is what they have to do -- rally/campaign even after elected to get their message out. Not sure why Trump doesn't just issue everything through Twitter.

Remember all the times repubs feebly criticized Obama for "still campaigning"? Those same people somehow haven't managed a peep over Trump's ongoing kiss his own ass tour. Funny how that works.

Hypocrites ahoy, yet again.

Fascism requires regular and fabulous rallies.

Look at Hitler, he had a rally or motivating speech every couple of weeks when he was ramping up the war machine.

Yeah -- that was about the same takeaways I had. Trump rallies are the only rallies I think I have ever seen where half the things said are said to elicit boos from the crowd. It's just so "negative" and designed to divide.
