<< I go to usc right now I applied for business and got in as a business scholar (basically, i get into their b-school automatically). USC EE is pretty good. There's a bunch of EE PhDs here, and a lot of 'em come from national organizations (IEEE, etc). Seeing as how in my ee101 class they jumped right into digital design and expected us to read the stuff to learn what a capacitator is and all that other good stuff, i got this feeling that ee would be quite demanding here... as for CS, dunno too much 'bout CS program here. This place, being a lot smaller than the other UCs, will give you lotsa attention if you so desire. Oh...I should tell you this also: difficulty here (getting in and the classes) has been rising since 5 years ago because the average sat/gpa has gone up quite a bit (more than 100 points for the sat). I've heard from people older than me that the exams have gotten harder than what they had to go through for the equivalent course. i wouldn't be surprised if usc's rank rises a few notches within the next couple years. since this school is quite expensive, make sure you want to do computer engineering (i have no f'in clue why they call it CECS here). good luck in your decision. everybody and their mother is in IEEE, you just sign a paper and pay dues. And i would hope a university would have phd teaching on campus. I got a full ride to USC for Computer Engineering but didnt take it because their program wasnt very good.
