When I turn it on all lights and case/video card/cpu fans turn on but I can't get any video. I'm getting no beeping during POST and it will run continually, but nothing appears, with DVI, VGA (with DVI plug in) or HDMI. I've put the everything but the cpu and motherboard into other systems I have and all have worked perfectly. I've checked and double checked that everything was plugged in and even reinstalled it a few times into different systems.

Motherboard- GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

Reset BIOS by clearing the CMOS.

If still having problem, then the motherboard may be faulty. The CPU may be faulty (also?), but that is unlikely.

What happens when you remove all the memory modules and try to power the system? Do you get any beep codes then? I presume that the case speaker is connected?

If it still doesn't do anything, do you have a power supply that you can swap out with yours?

In general, when this happens to a system I am working on, I always go back to the basics: unplug everything from the motherboard, remove the video card, and dismount the motherboard from the case. Place it on a non-conductive surface (i.e. a piece of cardboard or a static bag) near the case. Plug in the case speaker, one DRAM module, and the power supply cables. Use a screwdriver to jump the power switch header to start the machine. If you do this, do you get any beep codes? If so, shut down, install the video card and again boot the system to see if it posts. If it doesn't post, you already have the motherboard dismounted for the RMA process.

Okay with 1 dram only it gives one long beep then two quick

I don't own a dual-BIOS Gigabyte board so I'm not sure if that BIOS is by AMI, or Award, but the one long, two short beep code for either indicates a video problem:

Award BIOS: 1long, 2 short Video adapter error- Either video adapter is bad or is not seated properly. Also, check to ensure the monitor cable is connected properly.

AMI BIOS: 1 long, 2 short Failure in video system- An error was encountered in the video BIOS ROM, or a horizontal retrace failure has been encountered.

So if its indicating a video problem and the video card works in other systems does that mean the mbs video slot is busted?

I realize you can't POST, thus you're unable to access the BIOS, but the user manual shows these options in the Advanced BIOS Features for mounting the graphics card:

Init Display First

Specifies the first initiation of the monitor display from the installed PCI graphics card or PCI Express graphics card.

PCI Slot Sets the PCI graphics card as the first display. (Default)
PEG Sets the PCI Express graphics card on the PCIEX16_1 slot as the first display.
PEG1 Sets the PCI Express graphics card on the PCIEX16_2 slot as the first display.
PEG2 Sets the PCI Express graphics card on the PCIEX4_1 slot as the first display.
PEG3 Sets the PCI Express graphics card on the PCIEX4_2 slot as the first display.

I'd suggest removing the CMOS battery or shorting the CLR_CMOS jumper to return the BIOS to default settings, then try mounting your graphics card in a different slot to see if the mobo will POST.

Using slot 1 after clearin the CMOS and having just the board on the box with only 1dram and the video card it I get a single beep. Which I everything is fine right? Adding addition ram and it still gives 1 beep.

Hooked it up to a monitor and its loading up into bios

So now it loads up to the windows logo and after a few seconds it goes to a blue screen with a lot of text but only stays there for half a second at most then restarts the computer and repeats this problem.

Most machines give a single beep once they complete the POST process. So, this is good.

I would suggest downloading a copy of the MEMTEST86+ ISO. Burn it to a CD, boot your machine using the CD, and run a memory test. I'd run a few sessions on each memory module, installed one at a time. This will allow you to at least eliminate a memory fault as the cause for your troubles.

If this is a new build that until now has been unable to POST, did you just now install the OS or, did you previously do the installation on the Barracuda while it was in a different machine?

If you've just now installed, in addition to Steltek's advice, reboot and immediately begin tapping the F8 key to access the Advanced Boot Options screen. Select "Disable automatic restart on system failure" and when Windows crashes, the blue screen page will stay open so you can read the error message and error code. Write down the message and error code, then post it back here.

Ended up reformatting the hdd and got it to load up with a fresh install of the os.

New problem when I install the video card drivers and catalyst the screen gets all weird and pixelated and messed up. When I uninstall them it's perfect again.

Click the Download tab on this page: SAPPHIRE HD 7770 GHz EDITION OC 1GB GDDR5, select your operating system version, then download the Catalyst Software Suite.

When you start the installation select to uninstall the previous version if the installer offers that option. If it doesn't just go ahead with the installation. When you run the installer it automatically installs both the driver and the Catalyst Control Center.

Are you sure that you have enough power? AMD recommends at least a 500W for that GPU. A lower rated PSU could work depending on the actual power draw, but your PSU brand isn't great and it's not 80+, so that's where I would look first.

My i7-3770k w/water cooling and four large case fans and two small motherboard fans, HD7950 video card (which as a Windforce model itself has three additional fans), 16gb of memory, four hard drives, DVD-RW, and BD-RW drives pulls under 100 watts in normal use. So, his system is likely not taxing the power supply. The fact that it is not 80+ rated only reflects on the efficiency of the power supply, not quality of power (though I do agree Thermaltake power supplies as a whole are pretty crappy overall).

His system will pull less than 200 watts in normal use.

Graphics card manufacturers routinely severely overstate the power requirements of their cards because there are so many people out there running on junk power supplies.
