To repeat:

So the authors of the piece disagree with you. Also, if you think (1) and (3) are not political questions, especially when it comes to politicians, I have a bridge to sell you.

Keep reading, it leads you back to the one sentence fragment I cited earlier as their only non-legal reference that they treat in a rather dismissive manner ...

It's a legal analysis of "can" we indict. Based on new evidence. That came out in the Hutchinson hearing. That's their entire point. There is new evidence that makes it easier for them to now legally justify an indictment on any of the 3-4 charges they talk about for several pages. It does nothing to discuss any of the myriad mitigating factors that they devote a sentence to. They even ignore some of the specific legal hurdles that we've already talked about. The closest they get to that is recognizing it's based on one witness, and some of it is hearsay. There isn't a single mention of privilege at all, or any other likely challenge that would likely end at SCOTUS (is McGahn case still on docket?). Any of those succeeding from defense side does tend to pour water on even their legal reasoning ...

Again, I'm not saying he can't/shouldn't be indicted. You're wrapped around the axle on a single sentence from a single opinion piece written by two legal professors (that I tend to agree with on the legal side, btw) who now say THEY would indict him. Biden/Garland don't have the same limited set of concerns they do in this piece.

I don’t know what else to say. It is a plain, unambiguous statement and the entire last section is an analysis of the political impacts of the decision.

If you want to ignore the plain meaning that’s up to you.

Do you need more evodence of intent than we already have? "Theyre not here to hurt me, take the fucking mags away!" Is pretty unequivocal on intent. What else is there? You need more than one statement to prove intentm

I would argue this from the defense as, Trump is/was obsessed with drawing big crowds. He was thinking of that and only that when he demanded they remove the metal detectors. He was otherwise heedless of any other consequences.

Trump.

I've already outlined my thoughts on Biden.
Based on what we know about Trump now (temperament, corruption, mental stability, etc.) would you still vote for him over Biden? Would you vote for Trump over Manchin for example (or someone else more palatable to you on the Dem side)?

The only palatable Dem to these MAGAtards is a dead one. The party of patriotism always chooses party over country.

No matter what he answers I think the only acceptable answer is ANYONE over Trump. He tried a coup - you don't vote for the coup guy.

Uncertain about Biden as he is now. A year or so ago and the answer would be a yes. I've already stated I would vote for Manchin over Trump...

Dude you voted for Trump twice. I can give you the first one if you're a bit slow on the uptake but doing it again, that's a deliberate choice to say fuck America.

You are entitled to your opinion no matter how wrong it is...

You voted for Trump twice, your opinion is worthless.

That's the way I look at it too. If you voted for Trump a second time after seeing him in action for 4 years, you got no leg to stand on anymore. You are a goner.

I think it is cute how you guys think anyone cares what your opinions are.

I certainly don't. Keep living in your echo chamber.

I just don't get it, Donald Trump's luck.
Emails are missing, Trump is still going strong, and thanks to ex AG Bill Barr and current AG Merrick Garland all Trump has to do is announce his candidacy and Trump instantly becomes Teflon Trump. Untouchable by law and legislation. Well on his way to the presidency.

I'm sorry to say this but I have come to the conclusion that it is true. That Donald Trump is the anti-Christ. The evil one. The power from hell predicted in the bible. Nothing can touch him, nothing can harm him, nothing can stop him. Donald Trump is the anti-Christ foreseen, foretold, and forewarned by scripture.
Face it people, we're royally screwed. We can't stop this, nothing can stop this.

So I guess it is inevitable, the anti-Christ Donald Trump will be the next president, humanity will suffer great chaos, lives will be lost, people will die.

Call me suspicious when the secret service head whom is a trump appointee cannot find sms from January 5th or 6th.
As I said in another thread the former President obviously was an incompetent hiring manager. All of his appointees should have been purged by now.

During the January 6th attack on the Capital, Pence was suspicious about MAGA supporters in his detail would whisk him off to Andrews and away from Washington preventing the confirming of the electoral college count. Kind of bad if you cannot trust the motives of your own detail.

Hi, Im not a follower of the bible, my Mum is, and she always said the bible doesn't mention the US or America in the last days meaning it isn't there or isn't significant to mention. The Anti-Christ comes out of the East. Maybe #45 isnt the Anti-Christ, but is the player that destroys the USA

I always envisaged the Anti-Christ as being a bit more slick and, well, saturnine, than the Orange buffoon. Perhaps that impression owes more to the Omen movies and Sympathy For The Devil than to scripture, which I can't claim to be an expert on, or even have read at all. But the latter does say "a man of wealth and taste", it's not
"Please allow me to introduce myself/I'm a man of wealth and glaringly obvious psychological dysfunction"

Well this was interesting...

‘Trump 2025’ Plan Will Gut Gov’t With Mass Firings if Re-Elected
According to a new report, Donald Trump would fire tens of thousands of civil servants and bring his key Jan. 6 allies to the White House in a move that would fundamentally redesign the government to suit his agenda if he is elected to a second term.

Trump could fire tens of thousands of civil servants without the employees having any ability to appeal their sacking. He could then fill the vacancies with people he deems more loyal to him and his “America First” program.

The plan would be based around an executive order called “Schedule F,” which was secretly developed and then publicly launched in October 2020 before being rescinded by President Biden.

This would be the tip of the ice beg if Donald Trump were re-elected. Considering what dictators do, and especially what they do when their power is threaten, what Trump could do as president goes far beyond simple firings.

Imagine our entire national security ran by Trump loyalist, crazies like MTG or Jim Jordan. Imagine who would be in charge of our nuclear codes?
And imagine, an uprising by true American patriots against Trump and Trump threatening to use nuclear weapons against Americans? Not so unimaginable when you consider Trump's mental instability.
Anything is possible, and realistically could happen considering the launch codes would be controlled by Trump loyalist and only by Trump loyalist. Trump gives the order, and Jim Jordan obeys. Simple.

There is a saying when it comes to Donald Trump.... Imagine the worst then multiply that by 1000. For example, who would have imagined the Trump presidency ending in an insurrection? We all knew from the start Donald Trump would be a terrible president, an insane president, but to actually physically attack congress just to stay in power? No one figured on that happening back in 2016.

Well, no one will predict an insane president ruling as a dictator in his second term and threatening to use nuclear weapons against the American people who Trump perceives as a threat to his agenda. No... no one will ever predict THAT, just like no one could predict an insurrection.

The “banality of evil” seems to fit the bill.
