When did PFI become a place where name-calling such as "lame ass pussified social rejects" and "bung headed self absorbed children" is considered acceptable?

Besides that, I do agree with your sentiment and applaud your use of the word bung.

Is it name calling when it's an accurate description?

^^ see the "ass" thread that mick was bitching about

I treat all mods like any other poster: with respect.

If you disagree with a mod about something then act like an adult and discuss it rationally. How difficult is that?

Here's an idea: how about everyone try treating everyone else with some respect and courtesy? Its fine to disagree and argue, but it seems so many of us devolve into fits of extreme insults and name calling. Dudes, its only a forum.

So in conclusion I would like to say: just relax and grow a thicker skin and can't we all just try to get along?

Respect is earned and is very hard to earn back once lost.

You are seriously mistaken! When somebody is appointed a mod, they should not have to "earn" your respect.
They should get immediate respect!
If they screw up, you don`t confront them in public.
You also don`t confront them in this forum.
You follow the guidelines for reporting mods.
If you have issues with the results...you have two choices...
iether suck it in and go about your buisness or find another site to hang out at.

EVERYONE must earn respect. A moderator is no different.

The same time when ot became a place where you can no longer joke about things. Because god forbid anyone be sexist or racist, this place needs to be more carebear land, we need more talking about love and hugs and kisses.

The problem is we have a lot of pussyfied members who would not respect the moderators regardless!!

So the mods cannot win at all!!
There are those members who also think they can do no wrong and how dare a mod lock a thread of theirs...lol

Red, I distinctly remember a thread where you were defending unfunny stupid jokes about raping a woman. That might give you some idea of when OT became that kind of forum.

Do you remember it, or shall I hunt for a link?

I haven't been here as long as some of the other members, but I really haven't seen the mods getting out of control. I was notified my a mod when I went a bit too far in a discussion, but I accepted the fact that I had gone too far and moved on. Sometimes people should just turn off the pc when things start to make them raise the BP.

Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Not saying that every case of a crying member is justified, but your lack of involvement in what many members are up in arms about doesn't negate their claim so don't insinuate that mods are blameless and members are stark raving lunatics please.

I mean, some of us ARE stark raving lunatics, but still.

Mods are pretty good here. I'm glad we can even complain from time to time, other places you get censored or banned pretty quick if you have any issues with a mod or any of the administration.

I just wish we had a main forum admin that was actually dedicated.

Dedication requires support from above in terms of response to problems and compensation for time/effort required to be a full time admin

At present neither is provided in any way, shape or form.

I've been here a while, and honestly, I've never really seen the mods do something horrifically wrong. The very worst thing I've seen is a situation where someone got IMO a stiffer penalty then they deserved. (They flamed someone who I believe flamed them back).

Generally, when the mods step in, it is usually far past due. I've seen them be lenient with the rules.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at

If it would help, we (all active members plus mods) could write a petition to Anand and anyone else at the main site for support. It might not get anything done immediately, but at least it will make known that the forums are not running anywhere near as smoothly as possible, to put it nicely. Are we even sure Anand knows the forums still exist?

Anand is aware of the situation.
That is why he sprung Derek on us (members and Mods).

However, Derek was unable to understand the enormous size of the task; plus he has other concerns.

As most have noticed, he is not around very often, leaving the Mods in the same situation as before; yet with Derek's social guideline to be implemented; yet not properly defined. They are great in theory; yet hard to implement and the membership troublemakers want to push grey areas so as to not cooperate

you guys keep blaming users as if they are 100% to blame.

it does not help when do that, call them babies and have other mods go off doing shit that would get users banned. then youall wonder why you have few that treat you all the way they do?

EVERYONE must earn respect. A moderator is no different.
everyone must show decency and basic respect to others as human beings. Basic simple respect is called politeness.

You don't need to earn my respect for me to respect you as a person and treat you decently.

The mods have a hard enough job to do without members here giving them a lot of attitude.

You all need to understand that being a mod is either about having power over others or status, there are the very rare few that just want to help out, but those tend to stay in the background. With that understood it's obvious that being a mod isn't all that much fun if you don't get to wield your "power", that leads to annoyed users, and can only be controlled by other mods or the site owner. We've seen how well that works.
The other huge problem is the idea that mods can post as regular members or mods. It's total bullshit. The two can't be separated, the line is far too broad and fuzzy. IMO that leads to a all sorts of problems with mods arguing with members, then putting on their mod hat and showing them the door. I've seen several examples of this in P&N.

On the plus side bitching about the problem is tons of fun!

The Mods used to post as Members without issue. That's because who the Mods were was a secret. The only difference we have now is that Mods are clearly identified.

As far as Mods arguing an Issue with Members then turning around at some point and begin Modding those they are arguing with, BS. Mods don't Mod threads they are involved in as Members.
