Back to sleep...sleeping beauty

Guess you don't know the answer to my question either eh? I don't think any of you know much about what's in this bill... you just like to argue about politics as usual.

Ah so since you got dealt a shitty hand, everyone else should have to pay...

Pretty much. The dems couldn't get enough parading of hard cases around to support their cause, they'll exploit anyone for their agenda, and make them believe they are on their side, it's magic man. I'm kind of glad the cost shifting bill was passed, now we people are going to get really fucked, and maybe finally wake the fuck up.

Because "Progress" often means bigger government, which many of us want absolutely NO part of. That's why.

Many, but not most. You seem to be on the losing side of history. And it doesn't matter what you do or where you go, people will always prefer progress to conservatism.

Same thing was said about public schools. Same thing was said about medicare.

Better an agenda of healthcare than an agenda of wars and death.

How about an agenda of neither and instead, implement catastrophic coverage for all Americans? I don't want to pay for someone else's kid to go to the doctor every time he stubs his toe because they now think health care is "free."

Sadly it does seem that the entitlement crowd is outnumbering those that actually work for a living, at least vocally, don't worry though, you'll only be able to take our money to hand out for so long.

Well too bad, cough it up, the welfare state has spoken. "freebies" for all, unless you work that is.

When something this big comes along, conservatives are always against. Civil rights, public education, women right, freeing of the slaves, medicare, the list goes on. It's kind of sad.

The bill that was passed has almost no protections for consumers.

It may state that they can't dump you from insurance but, it doesn't establish any agency to oversee this, and they will still dump you for making some spelling error on form 37-c.

I also thought it was funny how many dems were talking about health care for your children being covered.... Children are already covered through federal and state programs and get treated for free, what they are REALLY talking about are illegal immigrants who don't have to pay a cent for it.

No one would be against this bill if it were cheap. Its not cheap. Its going to cripple the US economy.

It has nothing to do with being against it because "it is big." Government social programs are a disaster. Why is it my responsibility to pay for someone else's health care? And please, do not use the argument that "you already are paying for other people's health care so why are you upset?" I know that and get that, but who says that is right either?

And of course you ignored the question (bolded for your convenience):

I didn't say you were the only one you twit. But since you can't see past yourself on this. Try it this way: So since some got dealt a shitty hand it means everyone else has to pay?

I think the answer you are looking for is, yes. And when you are dealt a shitty hand everyone else will pay for you. Its quite simple really. Dont see how people dont get this.

I don't wanna pay for someone else's kid to go to school and waste my money because school is "free". I also don't want to pay for the police officer to break up the domestic disturbance of my white-trash neighbor. I don't give a shit about any of them.

I don't think it's perfect but it is what it is - INSURANCE. There should be a better way for people to access healthcare but the gov't has made the current situation as they have regulated it into this downward spiral(or upward if you look at premiums). They inserted themselves and ruined the health industry. We need to go back to the days where people actually pay for their normal care. Insurance would still have a place but it wouldn't be the majority of it. It's place is for catastrophic coverage. INSURANCE isn't for checkups and other normal things - it's for the unexpected major issues.
I agree, but health insurance is no longer insurance as such. People now have the idea that health care is a right, so someone else should pay for it, including normal, day to day care. Our concept of health insurance is no longer a pooling of rare but devastating risks, it is now someone who pays for our health care. The Dems are happy to cater to that concept, but it's the people who are driving the change.

Next people will demand lower or no deductibles, especially on preventive care, vaccinations, and other foreseeable costs. The Dems' health care boards will be happy to mandate that, without changing premiums. Within two decades (perhaps one) we'll see a "public option" to allow the insurance companies to shed the most expensive people directly to the taxpayer, but the destruction of health insurance as we know it is now inevitable. Even assuming the Republicans win control of both chambers and the presidency by 2012, and completely demolish this bill, without a sea change in our underlying entitlement mentality there is simply no way health insurance can continue to exist long term.

Never forget, however, that with so many conservative brainwashed robo-sheep in this country, even with a more universal health care, we are still one of the most backward of the developed nations.

Well, if you file for bankruptcy because you got dealt a shitty hand, don't I have to pay for it in the higher interest rates to the banks?

You pay police officers to enforce the law, which they are doing by breaking up the aforementioned disturbances. Maybe those people involved should pay the cost of the officers coming to the scene? In some cases, don't they already?

You would get no argument from me on parents footing the bill to send their spawn to school.

The first part, I totally agree with you. The second part, well a civilized society needs rule of law and you need police officers to enforce that rule of law. Otherwise, concepts such as freedom and property rights will not exist and you'll have communism.

Only in the mind of the left does one's earnings and property belong to someone else...

Stop using such inflammatory words you conservative demagogue you! Everyone know paychecks and purchases are only mechanisms the government uses to loan property to the citizens. You should be grateful you are able to choose to eat or not to eat candy bars. Property and earnings are antisocial constructs that only serve to remind us of how feudal we are. We need to progress beyond these selfish concepts so that we can achieve collective transcendence.

when medical costs have skyrocketed to the point where anything above and beyond routine care could drive the average person into bankruptcy, what choice is there, really?

I spent like 4 days in a hospital a couple years ago due to a blood clot... if I hadn't had insurance, the out of pocket cost would have been more than I make in an entire year.
