Oracle JDeveloper, IBM Eclipse, Netbeans, Sun SunOneDev (i.e. Forte).

take a look at netbeans

Eclipse owns all other IDEs.

you will eventually find the j2sdk from sun site is the best there is.
But an IDE will surely help, try JCreator Pro, its small, fast and very user friendly.
