Since it is union, you do get 2 years of extra seniority out of the deal (without the extra work of a promotion), go ahead and sign up.

seniority doesnt seem to be a problem, this is what kinda ticks me off, a newer guy then me who is 18 just got promoted to a 13/hr job and he has only been ther about 3 weeks. on top of this they told me specifically that i could get a raise or promotion till im 18 and i dont see myself wroking at minimum wage busting my ass for no real benifit or gain.

I'm in the same boat. I have a job at a golf cart place at Sherkston Shores (they use them for transportation around the park) but it will end after the summer. So after that, I'm screwed. :\

How long have you been there for???

I say just suck it up and keep the job. You can't run from everything you don't like in your life. Look for a new job, but don't quit this one until you have a new one.

Thats the problem these days, no one is willing to do a job they don't particulary like to make money. Hell, I worked 2 years at a crappy job to get a good job. If you keep a job, it shows potential employeers you are serious about working and have a sense of dedication.

I highly doubt you'll find a job doing tech support of any kind at 16, no matter what your level of computing knowledge is, unless your area is dying for more techies. I've got a good knowledge of computer hardware and software, and have sold computers for over a year, so I know how to deal with customers that don't know as much as I do. I still can't find a job doing tech support anywhere.

My recommendation: Stay at Ralphs for a while longer, work your butt off, get a good letter of recommendation, try to get into co-op at school, and just overall impress the hell out of the people at Ralphs. If you do that, then you shouldn't have a problem getting a good recomendation out of them. It also helps if you know someone in the industry that can put you in contact with people... other than that, just hang out more at your local computer shops, get the people there familiar with you and make sure they know that you have computer knowledge (but don't try to impress them/show them up... thats just dumb). If you can start talking to a manager or even some of the employees on a regular basis, it shoots up your chances of getting a job there significantly.

You 16 year olds are killing me! Wake up. You are 16. I understand some of you want a job you like, but you are limiting your self to what you know and some are just asking for things way out of their league. Being paid 13/hr at at age 16 is alot to ask for. Plus, you work at a grocery store! They can find someone to replace you as fast as they can let you go.
