John Edwards is a liar

I don't really think of him as a troll, just a little quick to "post". That he's so relatively relentless with it is both endearing and pitiful at the same time. You -want- him to succeed a bit here and there, but just when you think he might have done it, he trips up, digs his grave, or otherwise mucks it up.

I chalk up much of it to posting before he's taken some things into account, or, after having those things pointed out, flatly refusing to acknowledge them. It's plenty easy to go back and edit an OP if it's a bit "off". A couple of the threads from the past couple days come to mind. Though I could blame myself a bit for assuming, I did just that when I assumed the threads were dealing with events happening in the last week or so. Instead, they were from nearly a year ago. Scandalous? Nah. But being aware of the context in these dicussions is huge. No seriously, like really, really big. Like think of the biggest thing you can imagine, then doubl... no, wait, triple it.

On the other hand, I'd wish conjur would ease back a bit on the post throttle a bit, particularly when he wants arguments against Rip to go better.

So somebody, not me, said he (or we?) uses factual evidence to support his claims against Bush while Riprotten doesn't use factual evidence to support his claims against Edwards, and whoever said that was indeed wrong, in this particular case. However, if you ever read a few posts by Riprotten, you would Know first-hand that guy was telling the truth about Riprotten's behavior the majority of the time. SO that's settled, who gives a damn.

You however, made multiple attacking and derogatory posts in a short time without clearly expressing what you were arguing about, which turned out to be a lot of nothin, because who gives a flying fvck if the guy who accurately described Riprotten as a (paraphrased) "troll who hardly ever supports his ridiculous statements" typed a little too fast for his own good. Further, you rarely add or have any insightful arguments either, and merely come off as a different kind of pest, nuisance, jackass, troll - same ilk species, different ilk breed. For instance, in this thread, you haven't addressed the topic whatsoever, but have only blasted people.


Finally, in this case, Riprotten did happen to post some support (quotes) for what he considers to be an actual argument. I destroyed that, without calling him any names, if you look at my post(s) above.

And you know what, neither you nor Riprotten would be called a troll by anybody, if you weren't trolls. If you don't like being called a troll, don't be one, and if you don't like someone being called a troll, maybe give him some advice on how to post and how to resist the (what must be an overwhelming) urge to troll.

Edwards could have said something like this: "Right now I'm focused on becoming the democratic nominee for the presidency so it's really premature for me to entertain that question".

If really, really pressed, he could have said: I will cross that bridge at the appropriate time. Right now I'm trying to get my ideas and vision for this country out to the American people and prove to them why I'm the best candidate to run against George Bush in November".

As I said above, President Bush doesn't need your help. He has the most robust campaign fundraising machine in presidential history. You are a proven fabricator and (largely unsuccessful and unpersuasive) spinmaster, and have substantially lost any credibility here as a result.

IIRC, GHW Bush said the same thing in 1980, that he would not consider running as VP. Lots of bad blood in the Republican primaries that year I seem to recall. Conveniently all patched up by the convention though of course, such being the way of politics.

Nice recall... that's also when the Elder Bush coined the term "voodoo economics" regarding Reagan's Trickle-Down Economics Plan (to make the rich richer and poor poorer) (which worked flawlessly).

I see you argue on behalf of Riprotten and one other person. Your argument is that he shouldn't be banned for his views - no one has suggested to ban him for his views. It was suggested that he be banned for the vague "cybercrime" (or continuous breach of netiquette) of "trolling". I personally don't care one way or another, since he entertains me. I actually have theorized that AT is paying him to entertain people in this ludicrous manner, but I know people like him do exist, so maybe he's doing it free of charge. Every forum needs a troll, otherwise it gets dull...

The other argument was that "as liberals" those raving for Rip's bannation are hypocrites because liberals are "supposed to be all for the freedom of speech." The person who crafted this argument is really an amateur. Most liberals, as far as I know are not advocates of anarchy. They do not support freedom of speech to the point that a person can walk in your house and just start screaming at you and you have to put up with it. Also, freedom of speech doesn't mean that you have the right to walk into a newspaper office and start dictating to a person at the desk and expect them to print it. It does mean you have the right to build or buy a newspaper and put whatever you want in the paper, and distribute it, for money or for free, up to you as the owner, to whomever wants it. The person that owns this site, and the people he has appointed as agents of it (moderators, what do you think they are there for??) are of course not depriving anyone of their free speech rights according to the first ammendment if they remove him for breaking the site's rules (as determined by the owner). If the government, not an individual, were to forbid riprotten from building his own website, or forbid him from posting to AT for some odd reason, that would be an infringement on his first ammendment right. As I said, amateur stuff.
