Hurt is a great cover...can't imagine how hard it hit the people close to him tho, they lived in and around the pain.

Here's an excerpt from Rosanne Cash's just-published memoir that reveals what her father's health was like at the time he recorded the song and filmed the video. He was only 71yo when he died but looked more like 80-something.

As far as I recall, Rosanne once said she does not like this video. When Johnny first showed it to her, she hated it because it looked to her like her father was saying goodbye. To which he replied: "I am."
