Why not write a program that logs into the forums every few minutes and tests for the JRun error? All you have to do is have the program open random threadid's. Doesn't even have to post. Screenscrape the resulting pages and look for a string, "Could not connect to JRun Server". Then bounce the offending server?

I could toss one together for ya if you want.

Evadman, i did that 2 weeks ago I wrote a .NET windows service that does a HTTP call and bounces the server if it is down. Works fine, but obviously a handful of users will still get an error while its restarting. Coldfusion doesnt exactly restart very quickly, we're talking 2 minutes before its up.

Are you logging to see if you could be somehow maxxing out your licenses?

Logging what madrat? we use sql enterprise and windows 2003 enterprise. We've applied their connection pooling fix and the latest datadirect drivers.
