What do you think a Scion is? Too sub par to be a Toyota. Originally it was marketed as a low end line to compete with the >$10K market entries. All the idiotic kiddies rushed to get it drove up demands, and all of a sudden they become desirable cars.Originally posted by: randomint
if the car broke up like that it could be one of those cars they piece together from junk parts and then fuse the chassis together.

The 3 Scion models appeal to 3 different groups of people (which may overlap).
tC (which this car is) - Boy racers that wanted a cheap ricer, but don't want to spend more on premium rice, so they got a sub par Toyota.
xB - iPod wearing hipster douchebags who want to drive something that looks quirky and European that's sup par Toyota
xA - people who want a really inexpensive sub par Toyota
I don't think I've ever seen an xA on the road.

I wonder, I know cars are designed to crumple, but are they also designed to split with sufficient impact?

I'm well aware of the Scion product line up, my statement was directed towards anything Scion. Thanks for confirming though, fixed a few things for ya.
