So I havent upgraded my PC in like 2 months..........I know, how did I manage?

So today I bought a second pair of HD6970's and an ASrock Z77 Extreme11 motherboard to go along with my new 1300w platinum certified PSU. In the next month I would like to either go all water cooled or get 32gb RAM.

Does anyone else run 4x GPU's? If so, what do you use them for?

God speed, that's all I'm going to say.

I just went from crossfire and trifire 7970 and some games perform worse...

As for your question. In only use them for gaming.

I don't think I'd ever go that route, but to each their own, I suppose. On the other hand, you can now use your computer as a toaster.

Pics?

I dont understand the need for even dual cards at this point, much less quads.

Anytime Ive seen people jump from 2 to 3 or 4 cards, actual performance got worse in gaming, and the only place it seemed to do any good is running benchmarks...nothing else.

A 7970 or 680 will pretty much run any program at ultra / max levels now, so having 4 of any card seems like a wash.

4 of any card will not outperform 2 of the same card in any real world situation, only in simulated benches.

My whole reason going from 2 cards to 3 is eyefinity. Playing at 5760x1080 is very demanding and 2 cards weren't enough.

Haha, im not doing this for any practical reasons. HD6970's are dirt cheap and I make more per hour than I have years of age. I just wanted some new toys

I dont have any of the parts yet (aside from the PSU) but I will do a full update with pics and benches when they arrive. Should be all in my hands by wednesday.

7970 cf or 680 sli would have been faster. I would even recommend 670 sli or 690 over 6970 qfire. I would personally take a single titan over 6970 quadfire.

Quadfire 5970 has been fantastic for me and the gains have been very real, but it seems the 7 series is another story.

4 GPUs = microstutter and input lag from hell. Good luck

Im legally blind................I dont think im going to notice any stutter with the modifier of micro

A titan would have cost me twice as much as 4 HD6970's, and I refuse to buy an overprice midrange card such as the entire GTX 600 series.

Realistically I would have bought two more HD7XXX series cards if I had two already, but since I already had 2 HD6970's I just got another two to match

Im excited, for all 4 together I spent about 550$/

If money was not an object why get an almost two cycle old tech?

Money is definitely an object, im not a Rockefeller, I just save very well and dont spend on much. Its not that I couldnt have bought 4 Titans, but that wouldnt be responsible, I payed about 140$ average per GPU.

This is pure unadulterated c**p. The only games a 7970 or 680 can perform like that with are either old or are turgid console ports that are usually not worth playing unless you're 13 years old. Loads of modern games and many old ones require more than a single 7970/680 to get anywhere near maxing at 1920/1200 at 60fps. Metro 2033, the Witcher 2, Arma2, Crysis 3, Far cry 3, Sleeping Dogs etc. Yes those games will play OK but won't be maxed out all ultra at all.

I think 1 Titan is about the same price as 4 6970s...I'm pretty sure 1 Titan would run in circles around quad-fire 6970.

It would not run circles around quad-fire 6970 and he didn't just go and buy 4 6970.

MS gets better the more cards you add apparently.

No it doesn't. Let me be more precise: It does when you don't increase image quality settings and get significantly more fps. But then, what is the reason for going multi-GPU in the first place? At a given fps rate, 4 GPUs are worse than 3 and 3 are worse than 2 and 2 are worse than one.

What kind of fps are you getting? Are your GPUs always running at 99% load each? The added input lag is fact, that is not for debate.
