Several months back I managed to cap this screenshot of Scalia's Wikipedia entry on Bing (I believe I had clicked on a news headline and saw it). A lot of the entry had been vandalized and it was pretty funny.

If republicans do that I think it would hurt them more. Even a weak candidate like Clinton can beat probably all the front runners on the Republican side now speaks a lot. Let alone if republicans prove they do nothing but vote no to Obama instead of leading.

That and it would just give more power to lower courts. A tie at the SC means the lower courts rulings stands.

The teachers union must be very happy.

A pending ruling on mandatory union dues is coming up in June and many people were saying that the Supreme Court was going to vote against the teacher unions. That's all up in the air now.

I don't think Republicans have a choice. The court is evenly split at this point so for any cases that are in the least controversial, you won't have any decisions until 2017.

No, what will happen is that they will try to influence the selection process to get someone whom everyone can agree on. IOW, someone who isn't an obvious liberal but also not a knee jerk conservative like Scalia.

So this is actually good since it will insure that a person with middle of the road views is selected. You'll get someone with stellar qualifications who has no apparent agenda, which is the type of people we should be selecting anyway.
