K6-2 ->K6-III overclocking

anyways, i have a k6-2 533 right now. think i should get any k6-3 and o/c that? if so, what k6-3 cpu am i looking for?

go for a k6-3+ 450, that sucker will clock to 600 or so, well alot of people have gotten it up there..

I am a socket 7 also. I went with k6-2+450 for about 35$ when tigerdirect had them. The only k6 this will not smoke is a k6-3+450 OC'd to same. Keep in mind the 3+ is around 80$ or more if you can find one. And new is now almost unheard of.....Both overclock to 550 with no real heat increase and remain stable. 600?

I heard the .18 K6(2)/(3)+ processor are capable of 600-650mhz

my k6-3+ is stable at 620mhz(5x124) with a ?? hs/f. I run it 600(6x100) rock stable, very rarely have any case fans on. nice and quiet

If you really want to put more $$ into socket7 find a k6-?+ and max that mb out. make sure the mb supports k6+ first tho.

Back when I had one (6 months ago), I had it running @672, turned it down a notch to 622

I have a K6-3+ 450 for sale for $85 if anyone wants it. It's brand spanking new, never run in a system yet. I bought it almost a year ago to put into my FIC PA-2013 motherboard but I opted to go athlon and swap everything so I was stuck with this chip that went unused. E-mail me if interested, I seen a few systems go 650+ mhz with these chips, but do 600 mhz everyday .
