As for whether or not he's actually toast because of this, I feel it's likely but far from certain. There's a decent chance that Republicans believe Ford and confirm Kavanaugh anyway because...well... I doubt they actually give a shit if he's a sex offender or not.

He needed better coaching. He’s still in a job interview for a judgeship, and somebody should’ve told him to check his emotions at the door. It wouldn’t have worked for Ford if she was all hysterical the whole time, and it certainly doesn’t work for Kavanaugh.
He needed to calm himself, focus his anger on the process, on the burden this has placed on him and his family, and stick to his facts. He has the reputation as someone with a meticulous nature. That precision could’ve worked for him.
