There’s only a few ways this can play out.

Dr Ford was either:

• Lying
• Telling the truth
• Telling the truth but wrong

Judge Kavanaugh was either

• Lying
• Telling the truth
• Telling the truth but wrong.

I agree Ford was credible and her testimony and actions support her story.

For the sake of argument I’ll accept your interpretation of Kavanaugh for now which leaves us with one of them telling the truth and one of them being wrong.

If this was a court of law it would be very difficult to convict Kavanaugh on the she said he said testimony presented.

(I was jury foreman one time on a he said she said assault case and we didn’t convict because the victims corroborating witness refused to testify and the prosecutor provided virtually no evidence)

However and with all due respect to Senator Graham while this maybe hell it was also a job interview. Kavanaugh, under pressure granted, did not display conduct becoming a Supreme Court justice. He was angry and lashing out widely and with huge partisan attacks unbecoming a judge whose goal was to remain impartial.

Strictly on that behavior alone he should be voted down.

One important thing to note though is that the chances of #3 being the case for Ford is basically zero. Eyewitnesses are notoriously unreliable for identifying witnesses they don’t know. They are extremely reliable for identifying witnesses they do know so when Ford says she knows it was Kavanaugh it’s highly probable she’s right.

So really the question is simply if you believe Ford is lying and making it all up or if she’s nuts and invented a sexual assault that never happened. Neither of those seems particularly likely to me.

Even if, it's pointless, as they would come back with the same information that has already been presented, only delaying the process, to get to the same point we are already at. They do a basic background check. If they don't have any specific allegations they wouldn't ask the questions and find the right people to ask questions to. With his classmates from Yale coming out that he was full of BS on the drinking he has no business being on the USSC. All he would have had to say is I was young and he and his friends liked to get drunk. Say it was in his past. Everyone who drank when they were 16+ drinks really for only on reason. But this choir boy saintly image he tried to sell was obvious BS. But he can't say that since he would have to say yes to the question is it possible that he was so intoxicated that he could have done what happened to Dr. Ford and have no memory of it.

I think that one consequence of all this is by Kavanaugh and Republicans screaming wild claims of an angry liberal (Clintonite even) conspiracy at the old somewhat bewildered guard Democrats is that they're effectively guaranteeing the creation of such a thing like they have on their end. Younger generations of liberals like myself are watching. If the Republicans want to fight bare knuckles then we'll need to get a bat. If they bring a knife then we'll need a gun. This is the logical progression of the tribal warfare they are stoking.
