Is this a joke? You think if accusations like these were made against Gorsuch the Dems would have stayed quiet because "it's cool, he's just replacing Scalia".

This is some next level stupidity.
Not a joke. Your comparison makes no sense.

The motives of the Democrats are clear. Jack Tapper did a good job of turning the screws a bit on Mazie Hirono over the weekend with regards to Keith Ellison.

Of course the motives of the Democrats are clear, they would like to defeat this nomination. It also appears that from an objective standpoint they are completely correct.

Regardless, the idea that Kavanaugh is somehow being treated unfairly is absolute nonsense. In fact, his treatment has been far, far lighter than he should be getting for an appointment of this magnitude of someone with such a problematic history.

You said this is only happening because Kavanaugh is changing the balance of the court, how does my comparison make no sense?
It couldn't possibly be that unlike Gorsuch, Kavanaugh is a scumbag?

Even in 2015 by his public statement he looks fondly on his days at Georgetown Prep. Doesn't sound like he changed much

What does the politicking around SCOTUS appointments have to do with democratic socialism?

Everything, from citizens' united to unions to abortion to the ACA & everything else. The GOP intends to intensify the grip of wealth & religion on the govt & the people via the SCOTUS. None of what they want is compatible with democratic socialism.

The Democrats failed to make their case against Kavanaugh during the proceedings which is why we’ve ventured into kangaroo court land.

The Democrats have set a new standard for the vetting of candidates. Pandora’s boxes.

In fact, his treatment has been far, far lighter than he should be getting for an appointment of this magnitude of someone with such a problematic history.
What standard do you prescribe

That is all what this is about.

The Democrats failed to make their case against Kavanaugh during the proceedings which is why we’ve ventured into kangaroo court land.

The idea that further evidence shouldn't be considered after an arbitrary proceeding time is silliness. These charges are credible and should be pursued as long and as far as they need to be. Weeks, months, years, who cares? You don't make a lifetime appointment to an enormously powerful office unless you can be confident of that person's integrity. Right now we can't be and all reasonable and objective people certainly agree.

The Democrats have set a new standard for the vetting of candidates.

They have not.

What standard do you prescribe

1) Kavanaugh's previous work that Republicans are hiding should be made public and examined, particularly considering the likelihood that he has lied under oath about them.
2) The FBI should be investigating the additional allegations.

This was the pretty normal standard before Republicans went crazy so basically my standard is 'the one in use for decades until recently.'

Republicans are only whining bout "fairness" and inventing lurid fantasies of false accusers being the end of supreme court appointments because they are at a political disadvantage in a political process. They are just short of real moves.

If the Senate doesn't like the process they have then the Senate should change the rules. Alternately congress could pass law governing this.

Zero scandals??? Really? How quickly we forget:

- He put fancy Dijon mustard on his burger!
- He saluted a marine with a latte in his hand!
- He wore a tan colored suit!!
- He didn't hold his own umbrella!
- He invited hip hop artists to a barbecue!!
- He used a teleprompter at his speeches!!!
- He bowed to foreign royalty!
- He dared put his feet on the Resolute desk!

Let's not whitewash the Obama Presidency just because his successor has a few more gaffes.
Yes actually, contemplating my reply I was going to mention the mustard incident but I forgot. Thanks.

I don’t understand what you are comparing

Yes, you seem to be quite the idiot. I'll try to walk you through it.

I am hearing this often, so it must be the new talking point. Those appointments didn’t change the balance of the court. Kavanaugh arguably would, hence the need to smear him.

This is your reason for Kavanaugh being "smeared" as you put it.

So apparently you think that if Trump had nominated Kavanaugh first, what's happening now wouldn't have happened and he would've sailed through, since he wouldn't have "changed the balance of the court" and Dems wouldn't bother smearing him.

Instead we would have Gorsuch being confirmed now, who, according to your logic, would have the same thing that's happening to Kavanaugh happen to him since he would be "changing the balance of the court" thus becoming a "must smear" target.

So your "only smear opponent when the court balance is in jeopardy" theory is retarded. If the Dems had anything negative on Gorsuch they would have ran with it, even if the court had 8 sitting liberal justices, and if Kavanaugh was the first Trump SC nominee these allegations would have come out pretty much in the same way they did now.

This guy has baggage, Gorsuch didn't. Spare us the conspiracy theories.

Which leads us to what I wrote, which is just a post making fun of your stupid argument.

Is this a joke? You think if accusations like these were made against Gorsuch the Dems would have stayed quiet because "it's cool, he's just replacing Scalia".

This is some next level stupidity.

If this still is too much for you, maybe I'll draw you a picture or something.

SUPREME COURT NOMINEE KAVANAUGH FACES MORE ALLEGATIONS

Montgomery County investigators confirmed Monday they’re aware of a potential second sexual assault complaint in the county against former Georgetown Prep student and Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

While investigators weren’t specific and spoke on background, they said they are looking at allegations against Kavanaugh during his senior year in high school after an anonymous witness came forward this weekend.

This would potentially bring the number to four women accusing Kavanaugh of wrongdoing and comes after Deborah Ramirez, a former Yale college student, stepped forward this weekend to accuse Kavanaugh of exposing himself to her in college, and after attorney Michael Avenatti tweeted out a message saying he represents a woman with “credible information regarding Judge Kavanaugh and Mark Judge.”

Put Judge Kavanaugh to a vote as soon as Senate rules allow it. If he fails in the vote then nominate Amy Coney Barrett, Joan Larson or Meg Ryan within a week or 2.

Repeated exposure to grenade blasts is causing obvious brain damage. If you don't care about the kids you should back off for your own health.

But I do enjoy the screaming desperation in your post.

Yes but all nominations inevitably go forward to a vote, job interviews eventually result in a hiring decision. The hiring decision got delayed by nth hour allegations that no reasonable prosecutor would entertain this far outside the statute of limitations.

They have not.
They have. We will now be making moral determinations on the high school and college escapades of young people experimenting with alcohol and sexuality, some of whom may have made poor choices even if they were not criminal.

I agree and have consistently in this thread. I care more about what he did in the Bush White House.

2) The FBI should be investigating the additional allegations.
No they should not. The Dr. Ford allegations are shaky at best. The Ramirez allegation is dumpster diving. The crap Avenatti is floating is Steve Bannon level pizza shop crap. Although I think its worth noting that a porn star’s lawyer is proving to be a more tenacious opponent to Trump than any of the Democrats.

This was the pretty normal standard before Republicans went crazy so basically my standard is 'the one in use for decades until recently.'
You mean the standard before Ted Kennedy went crazy

It seems like some people are conflating the politics around the nomination with the accusations themselves. The politics exist, but the accusations come from private citizens who are not political actors and open themselves to pretty awful harassment just by speaking up.

I would like for you to draw the picture, crayon please.

I don’t support Kavanaugh, but not because of desperate nth hour allegations. I didn’t like it when it happened to Franken. I don’t support it now.

The GOP chose to rush the nomination process. They over reached, they get to deal with the consequences.

Dr. Ford asked to remain anonymous. It seems Ramirez got pushed into it as well courtesy of Ronan Farrow dumpster diving.

Since when is attempted rape not criminal?
