KDS k22mdwb 22" LCD

I went to Officemax to buy a 22" Samsung, but it turned out that the one they had "in stock" was the display unit. They had a whole stack of Viewsonics and KDS 22" LCDs though.
I can't find any reviews on this monitor. surely someone has used one. It does me no good seeing them hooked up to a split VGA 1280x1024 signal.

sorry i can't help you with this 22" model, but i bought a 15" vga in 2001 that ran forever, no bad pixels or other problems. Funny thing is that the 15" i bought 5yrs ago cost almost $100 more than this 22" you have the link to. I wouldn't have any probs with buying another KDS.

I've owned KDS CRT's and know other ppl who has as well. One burnt up after a year on my bro, another went fuzzy on my bro inlaw after a couple years. I have a 19" CRT which I think is about to have the same problem as my bro in laws. Personally I would stay clear of them. They are known to be one of the cheaper brands with CRT's and I'd say it hasn't changed.

Pay the extra and get this one which is known to be a decent monitor(if your looking at around $300 range):

Or if you don't want to order online pay the extra for the Viewsonic or wait for more Samsungs. The KDS I seen at officedepot(same model) had odd dull colors compared to the 22" Viewsonic beside it.

What about the Samsung? I get conflicting reports. Some people say the color sucks and there's light bleed, others say it's good after adjustments.

I've never owned a Samsung. Heard they was good though. If Viewsonic is the only other one offered thats the one I'd put my money on.

These 22" wide LCDs are all 6 bit per color, meaning 18 bit? That sucks . I might just wait and buy a 24".
