I agree.

Many of my friends are Independant. They feel the 2 party system is a joke.

I always try to vote for the best man (sadly the last 2 elections you couldnt. they have all sucked, bush gore and kerry).

Kinda like Bush did 4 years ago right??
Gore was the one losing 4 years ago in Florida, that would make him the sore loser in hindsight, not Bush.

But Bush could have been a man and given up.

Anyways, now we know that only what, 5% more people support Bush. It is a majority, but not much of one. Soon, we will all be forced to attend church, and go fight for oil in far away countries.

P.S.This is Jeffreylebowski posting.

he wasn't LOSING tho. you only concede if you're LOSING. as gore was losing and kerry has lost. you are really ignorant (more than even others here) if you really think that anyone is going to force you to go to church or bush is going to bring about a draft. or that this war had ANYTHING to do with oil.

there is a reason i avoid p&n, let's all put these trolls back in their cages and stop posting election stuff in ATOT.

Hillary in '08!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, sorry to see Kerry lose, but oh well. I'll live. I didn't think that this country was going to change much one way or the other anyway. It would be interesting to see who the Dems put on the ticket for '08 though. They have been beaten into submission this election, Kerry has to go back to the Senate a defeated man (I couldn't bear walking onto the Senate floor the first time after this), Edwards is out of a job (and now has seen his seat go to a Republican after Bowles gets his ass kicked a second straight time...the first time by a woman who has enough pen marks on her back to to keep BIC in business).

This will be an interesting 4 years.

YUP (early declarations said Gore had Florida, then Bush cried about it)

um. left slanted news organizations using flimsy exit polls to declare a wrong winner isn't a reason to concede. as the actual votes were counted and the true winner was shown, it was obvious gore wasn't winning ANYTHING. but hey, if you really want to look stupid, keep posting.

Look at the increase of registered independent voters and split ticket voting.
Well that's obviously a good sign. I just don't get the hard-headed people who vote just because a person is on his "team". The guy could be an alcoholic who's raped 2 kids but as long as he's on my team... he's the man for me. Give me a break.

You are taking it to an extreme. History has shown that when a candidate does morally incomprehensible acts his constituents leave.

The two parties are a genuine result of a difference in philosophy, plain and simple. I do not vote Dem often, because I do not believe in what the stand for. I do not entirely believe in everything the Repubs stand for, but they have many more policies that I do believe in, so I generally vote that way. But if Bush was an alcoholic and raped his daughters, I would be the first in line to linch him.

almost every person i know that voted for kerry voted for him because "he's not bush". not "i believe in his politics, he'd make a good president, i think he'd be good for the country" but "he's not bush".

what is THAT about. i voted for bush because i strongly disagree with kerry's stance on terrorism and his inability to take a solid stance on ANYTHING. not simply because, he's not kerry.

The ice queen will be on the ticket in 08. Wich again would make for a hard choice in who to chose. The republicans would need someone strong to beat her. though i did think Bill was a good presidant. I just lost faith in his lies under oath. NO presidant should be in charge after that. Yes i know you can claim Bush lied about the war (wich is why i didnt vote for him) but I feel it was more of bad advice. But he still takes the blaim.

Kerry has conceded much more graciously than a lot of the Anandtech members, and they didn't even run.

Actually, I'm republican and I voted for Kerry, Bush IMO has run this country into the ground and I thought we should give someone else a shot to see if he can do any better of a job. I'm not saying he could, but I'm fairly certain the next four years will show just how badly Bush (or should I say Cheney) really is. A person is smart, people are stupid, this proves it.

You make a good point, but don't you see... it's still "the best man for the job" if they think Bush is terrible. This party thing should not have any affect on issues. 2 opposing candidates in every election are allowed to have certain similar views, but they will differ in some way that still sways the vote. Giving them "parties" does this an incredible injustice as it REALLY HAS NO MEANING but to make people decide based on what they claim themselves to be. People aren't supposed to conform to a SET of beliefs.. they should already have them - and from that, they pick the best candidate.

I cant clearly confirm that he lied about WMD's but I think it is rediculous for a president who keeps releasing propoganda about how we need to pay more attention to our intelligence to say that the intelligence report on the near future of Iraq/Afghan democracy are just "guesses" and that the future is going smoothly for these countries when we are so far behind in each of them.

He did lie outright in the debate though. He claimed that he never said that he didnt care where Bin Laden was and that he didnt know where Kerry was getting that from. NPR played a clip of him being asked where Bin Laden might be and you hear him say almost word for word that he doesnt care where Bin Laden is. This is all only weeks after he said capturing Bin Laden was his highest priority. Talk about a flip flop!

Yeah, does this mean all those votes are not counted? That's pretty fvcked up.

They should have ensured their eligability and found their precient for voting in the first place. Not saying that all of them shouldn't be counted, but rules are rules. It's doubtful that Kerry could have pulled out the difference from those votes, anyhow.

So the people in Ohio that waited in line 9 hours to vote shouldn't have those votes count since they didn't get to actually vote until 3:30am. That is absurd. The votes should be counted. It may not make a difference in the outcome, but at least people will be encouraged that their vote was counted.
All votes will be counted. Just because the votes that were cast last won't tip the scale doesn't mean they won't get counted. The state's representative (I think this is the general attorney) will only sign off on the results making it final until after all votes are counted.

I dont think anyone especially bush has the right to question kerry's military records. that is dishonorable to a man who served our country.

Wow, in one post you b!tch about how the late voters vote won't get counted. Then you b!tch when every last vote was counted in Florida and they didn't rely on the polls.

Hypocrit.

I don't know. I'm kinda of torn with the whole Clinton thing. I think he's a fuggin' scumbag for cheating on his wife. Getting head in the oval office and lying about it?? I mean come on...who is going to admit that????

"Yes, I let her slob my knob....and it was goood" **thumb point** **bite lip** **thumb point**

On the other hand, Bush went into war with guns ablazing. Did he get bad information? I do believe he did. But not conceding to the fact that there have been some serious misques and to the fact that we've lost 1,000 troops for practically nothing.

In that sense I think that going to war and no owning up to mistakes is worse than getting your knob stroked and lying about it.

That being said, why the hell are you little sissies still whining/debating about the election. It's over. Bush won. Go cry some place else. It's time to take a look at the direction this country will take NOW and how Bush will unite this country instead of looking at the election.
