Well, ill try here since this is a problem in gaming/video. No one has any clue it seems in tech or gen hardware

Been having what appears to be kb buffer "clogging" when playing games, like Carbon and COD2. it will work fine for a bit, then when it happens, what ever key you have pressed will "stick on" even when you lift off of it. No, it isnt a sticky key/
Then car or man, in case of COD, will continue that direction for a few seconds, keys will be unresponsive,no forward, backward, or left/right, then it will instantly clear itself and continue normally. This happens say every2 minutes approx. but sometimes more random.
So i increased the keyboard buffer cache size twice, no difference. Tried a new USB keyboard, no difference.
But, i did find a means of stopping it from happening, all i have to do is close ATi Tools (ver 2.5) Everything normal after you close ati tool.
I am just wondering if anyone else knows of this weird happening, or why.
And could suggest some other software to monitor video temp, and set video card fan speeds like ATi tool does.
I dont overclock at all, all i use is the temp and fan controls, and would be nice to be able to keep a temp readout in taskbar too.

specs are AMD 64/3400 (stocl settings)
Abit AN8 nforce4
Win XP 2
Ati 1800XL (stock settings)
768 512-ddr400/256ddr333 I know, i need better memory, getting soon.
vid temps are low, usually no more than 33/49 via ati tool
cpu temp always below 40c
all voltages default.
Dont know if anything else would help, if so ask. Thanks

Probably ATI Tools' driver trying to read temps and freezing for a brief second. It could be PunkBuster but I doubt that, if it's fixed when you close ATI Tools.

Does it only happen on one game?

I have heard of a guy who accidently mapped his fire button as his screenshot button. So, everytime he tried to shoot, he would also take a screenshot which caused a lag.

Since the problem happens with more then one game, it probably is a hardware/OS issue.

Please post back and let us know what you fixed it.

Well, happens with COD2 and Carbon so far, that is all i have played. I gave up really, and just stop using ATi Tools.
It was more pronounced in Carbon because keys are held down a lot longer than a first person shooter, expecially the acceleration key, but if i did hold the walk forward key a long time in COD2, it would do the same thing as Carbon.
A more detailed explination if i can do is like this, in Carbon, using UP key to accelerate, left/right keys to turn, accel key held down almost constant, left/right keys constantly alternated, ok? well, a minute or so into a race, what ever key (left/right) you had down at the moment it does it, the car would continue that direction, even if you released ALL keys, it would usually run into a wall of course.
if you tried pressing reverse key (down arrow) it didnt do anything at all, no response for like 3 to 4 seconds, then instantly, every key worked like it should again.
Then would be fine for a minute or two, then do it again. Races lasting say 3 to 10 minutes, it would do it least 2 to 5 times. But shutting down Ati tools, it would not do it all all. I couldnt figure it out, so just took easiest way out

I wouldnt think it was ati tools reading temps as i have it set to read/alternate temp readings every 3 seconds. BUT.... as i type this, i got a idea to try it again with the read time way higher than 3 seconds just to satisfy couriosity.
But id sure love to know whats happening, never ever saw this before.
Oh, i did check key bindings in game too, wasnt that..
