Keyboard Recommendation for Gaming

Need help with a Gaming keyboard since that's what it's going to be primarily used for. I heard the logitechs were pretty good. What do you guys use?

I use the cheap-ass Micro-innovations for $9. It doesnt have weird keys all over the place, and if I mess it up I can replace it cheap.
Its actually got decent tactile response too. I like to know when my keys are being pressed.
IF you want to go wireless, then I would definately recommend Logitech.

No i want to get a wired keyboard just a good quality one too... not one thats going to last a few months or a year... this is goin to last me awile. Can't do a Razer Diamondback justice with a $9 compusa keyboard sittin next to it now can ya?

As a matter of fact thats the Mouse I use. It does fine justice. You have to remember that keyboards dont have precision like a mouse. They all detect a key being pressed as a one or zero. Thats it. So long as the board can detect up to three of four keys being pressed at once, they all function the same. I would not recommend a split key or microsoft natural for gaming. That just screws everything up.
Unless you dont like having to press very deep. In that case you would be better served by going to a Staples on Office Depot were they have they keyboards layed out. Feel them for yourself.

Do most modern keyboards allow more than 3 pressed keys at once? I noticed that in this one game called Infantry Online at the Sony Station that used Macro combinations like MAD and I would get pissed cuz I couldnt do alot of them. My keyboard would get pissy at even hitting two keys at once.

I'd say that it's a crapshoot. This $10 Mitsumi plain jane keyboard I'm using will let me press 3 keys simultaneously, and hold up to 4 keys at a time. Which is all I need, really, and I play key intensive games (very, very key intensive).

My uncle's got about 6 no brand PS/2 boards, and he's played BF1942 on them without noticing, but right I away I notice that I can't hit 3 keys at once on any of them.

Now, my fav boards so far are the ones before PS/2 (I forgot the name of the connection). They let me hit 4 at once. I have a few of them with some PS/2 converters.

So like I said, craphshoot.

I'm looking into the Saitek Gaming Keyboard, right now.

The Saitek keyboard has a very good, solid feel, and most importantly, has a great look. I think something like that has to be a visual choice, and to people like me, that matters, I can't say that if you discount the visual element, anything justifies the cost, so if that's not important to you, that's not your board.

logitechs are way to overrated imo, and kind of tacky.. i have my razer diamondback paired with a nice heavy black IBM keyboard, it is lovely - look for IBM keyboards, they are of good quality

Go with an original IBM Model M. They are still the best keyboards available. Great tactile feedback, easy on the hands, and they're indestructible. You can find the beige models relatively cheap on the web or at everyone's favorite auction site. I personally recommend this one because it looks great next to my Razer Boomslang (I changed out the goofy looking red trackpad head for a black one.). These are getting incredibly hard to find now, though. I happened upon 2 brand new ones in an office I was clearing out at work.

I have a Logitech Internet Keyboard that I got from Newegg for about $7. For the most part it works fine, but if I press certain three-key combinations (such as W + D + Ctrl for diagonal-moving and crouching), it won't work and the computer will beep at me. Basically, I'm saying that I would NOT recommend this keyboard for gaming. I've learned to live with it for now, but I'll probably get a new keyboard when I can find a nice one.

If you don't care about the Windows keys, wireless functionality (I've never been able to figure out why people who actually sit at their desks want wireless keyboards, myself), fancypants "multimedia keys," noise made while typing, or ergonomic features, get a Model M.

Okay, so that's a pretty long "if," especially for something that's a little tricky to find. Still, they're satisfyingly clicky, extremely well-built, and laid out like keyboards should be. I've yet to find anything that suits my needs better, myself.

I have the Logitech diNovo, at $250 it isn't cheap. But it sh!ts all over anything I've ever used. Most comfortable keyboard my hands have ever touched. It's helped increase my frag % by at least 3.5 no doubt

That's so true. My sister has the Logitech Elite (i think that's the name, its the wireless one that comes with the MX700) and after using the Saitek, the Logitech feels really mushy and lloud. One thing to not on the Saitek though, is that the lights serve no purpose but to look cool. They don't actualy light up the letters. Overall, I love the Saitek, especially it's programmable command pad which is really useful in games

I don't like the deck because it's not fullsize.
