If it costs as much as the Gigabyte, they can keep it. $175+ for a motherboard IMO is insane. Hopefully it won't be that expensive, but if it is that's a lot of coin.

I'm looking to build a new machine after the Athlon 1.4 gets released.

I was looking at the KG7, but what would be a good competing product? The Epox? I haven't seen the Raid version of the 8K7A anywhere. Although I would skip the raid if there was a big price difference.

Yipee!!! Hopefully in the next few days it will be on Pricewatch. I need to get a board soon! I sure hope it has an update VIA 686b chip. I'd hate to have problems like some people here. And it doesn't have on-board junk(sound) added!!!! yes!!!

Hmm... I dunno about the placement of the PS connector, but other than that I think the layout looks pretty good, for people with lower mounted HDs anyway. The floppy connector is looking kind of low too. Can't wait for those benchmarks.

Highpoint RAID is hardware, correct?

Are there any plans for a non RAID KG7? I really hope this board is in the $150 range, but with the Epox being ~$130 already, it's hard to see paying much more than that for the Abit, especially if the performance is similar.

There's one minor gripe I have when I saw the pics:

The capacitors are too close to the socket! I wonder if a Pal6035 will be able to fit on there without bending those things

Yeah, I was thinking that too, but there are plenty of good HSs that will fit. It doesn't really look any tighter than the KT7A.

no. It is not. If you want any ide hardware raid solution, be prepared to drop $200 or more for the raid controller alone. It is, like the promise fasttrack, a firmware solution.
I was also thinking of getting this one. But now that NV7 is in future, I will wait for it. ( Nvidia DDR chipset)

Also wondering, but it seems that there is not a single board in the market which is using the
AMD 760 North and Southbridge, with the exception of the Corona reference board. It seems it's not a performance issue, but simply cost and availability. It would be interesting to see how the AMD Northbridge is performing
