Just looking around i was informing myself,

I'm thinking of buying a BFG Tech 6800 GT OC,

just wanted to consider before i make my buy,

Are their any other brands that top or beat the BFG price/performance ?

*This excludes ATI Cards*

Anyone have their own opinions?

PNY overclocks as well as the BFG and runs slightly cooler according to someone on this forum. You can get it for $60 less from provantage when they get their stock in(in 3 days).

Thanks guys!

I just heard alot of good from BFG Cards thats why i prefered that brand usually I wait for asus but since doom3 and halflife 2 are aroudn the corner i figured since the BFG its oc out of the box for the price it was worth it.

Now all thats left is upgrading my cpu/mobo/ram which is going to take another hit on my wallet.

looking to buy a Athlon64 939 3000+ just priced to high.

Also My monitor is a Philips 202p4 22" ,

anyone think the monitor was a bad buy?

Where do you see a BFG GT for 400? Last time Newegg has them in stock, they were 500.

I got mine at Frys Electronics for $399.99. That's where.

My evga GT is running at 410/1110. Haven't tried going any further with it, that's already past Ultra speeds. evga also has the step-up program.

That step up program seems pretty cool. I just wouldn't want to have to bother with shipping my card out and waiting for one. And more importantly, the Ultra won't fit in my Shuttle anyways. My BFG is chillin at 410/1100 for the moment.

Hell no! That monitor is sweet - I own it also. Outstanding performance! You should be happy with it...Anandtech has recommended it more than once in past High-End System guides.

Cheers,

The BFG was originally 400 dollars, maybe not on newegg. I don't keep up on prices from limited quantities, sorry. I'm sure it will be back down at 400 dollars once inventory increases.

GeneralGrevious got his for 39 dollars after buying both a x800XTPE and a 6800GT.

You maybe wondering how?

He sold his x800XTPE on ebay for 700 dollars.

i got mine for $336.00

technically i got it for -$46 dollars because i got a bunch of people to give me old comp parts, mostly pc100-133 ram and sold them to computer renaissance for 450 bucks with tax and all and some other stuff i wound up with $46 in store credit.

Why bother with the step up program when your GT already overclocks to the level of the ultra?

I have the Gainward Golden Sample 6800GT on order at two different places ($399 and $424). That one has a copper heatsink, two fans and is OC right out of the box like the BFG.

I am also considering the MSI 6800GT. It has Doom 3 packaged with it. Prices I have seen for it our about $440. However I called a couple of places and they had a few instock, but now they are on Back order until 8/17.
One place said they have shipments of the MSI coming in on the 17th, 18th and 20th. So maybe the 6800GT are coming.....but don't hold your breathe.

since when is this thread about price ?
I'm glad I got my pny 6800 gt while others are still waiting, and it's running flawlessly at ultra speed (400/1100) which is what I wanted to get the exact performance level shown in review benchmarks for the ultra. I don't see any reason to risk it and try to go higher. The 6800 ultra also is the first one to be (paper) launched about 3 months ago, and as such holds the candle for this new generation of video cards (just like the 9700 pro did in 2002).
