just curious,

because the power button is on the subwoofer and usually, people put the subwoofer on the floor, do u just leave the speakers on all the time. (one speaker has the green LED light)

is this ok? i felt the back of the subwoofer today and it was fairly warm.

thanks

ucvb6, I have my 2.1's powered through the same Belkin surge suppressor power strip as my box and monitor. When I power up the Belkin in the morning it also powers up my 2.1's. I've been doing it that way since Feb. 2001 w/o an issue. Love the 2.1s, but I'm lessed than ecstatic w/ the TBSC card. Liked my Live MP3+ card better.

so after you shut down your computer, you turn the power switch on your surge protector off too? i was thinking about doing this but for some reason, whenever i flip the power switch on my power strip, i get a "thump" sound from my subwoofer. dunno if this is bad.

love the 2.1's too...can only imagine what the 4.1's and 5.1's are like
i used to have the TBSC card, gave it to my sister...for some reason, when ever i was playing music wit that card and i have some windows open. i try to minimize or close a window and the music would just screech, or get slowed down.... thought maybe this was b/c of the card or maybe not enough RAM in my system...who knows

thanks

I leave them on all the time. You state that you're less than impressed with the TBSC, but the thing I can't stand is that I can't turn the volume past half way on the Klipsch 2.1 without MAJOR distortion and crappy sound. I am not overwhelmed with the quality of the Klipsch speakers.
I was happier with the Microsoft DSS80's I had before which were MUCH cheaper in $$$$.

I have the original V-400's and I just keep them on a separate power strip. I turn them on after post and off before shut down. They still sound beautiful after all these years and I've never had a problem with them yet.

ucvb6, that's exactly what I do.

MasterHoss is correct, the thump does not hurt the speakers. I asked Klipsch tech support directly, and they confirmed it won't cause any damage.

bulldawg, that's what I've found w/ the TBSC, I get distortion at higher volumes. I experienced none of that w/ the SBLive MP3+ card I had previously. I'm seriously thinking of pulling the TBSC and replacing it w/ an OEM SBLive 5.1 I have in my daughter's machine. As far as anyone knows are there any of the same issues removing a TBSC as there are removing an SBLive card, re drivers?

Intresting to know about the TBSC 'problem' with the Klipsch speakers, I have a 4.2 system I guess I'll have to stay with SB for a while

Oh, my speakers are hooked up to a power switch which is hooked up to a UPS. I leave the strip in the 'on' state but the UPS turns them all off.

Well, nice to know I'm not the only one with this problem. I've been seriously considering replacing the sound card or the speakers. Just haven't done it yet. Another problem for me is that I despise Soundblaster products. Oh well......

I know this is an old thread, but I'm waiting for my Klipsch 2.1 system to come in that I bought off ebay for $153 shipped. All I hear about is how the power switch is on the back of the subwoofer. Yes, it is a minor inconvenience and I would rather it not be, but really people.......how lazy can you be? Is it really THAT hard to bend over and flip the switch when you shut the computer down (which is probably like ONCE a day)? Now if you're 65 years old and have a bad back I could see how this would really bother you, but I got a feeling not too many folks like that own a system like the Klipsch.
Good grief, people! Give me a break.

Would it be dumb to buy these through Amazon at retail price? That way I wouldn't pay tax, but I'd have to pay for shipping. Does Fry's carry these? I can't remember ever seeing Klipsch speakers at Fry's....

I am currently running a Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 setup. I leave my speakers on 24/7 without any problems
