Klipsch ProMedia sub died

My Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 subwoofer/amp died several months ago. I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to repair it on my own, and shipping it to someone doesn't seem cost-effective. I'm mainly wondering what I should do with the two satellites. I found [thread=328082]this thread from 2009[/thread].

The set is 8-10 years old and is the older design with a hard power switch on the back of the sub. It would make an "omph" noise when turned on. On the day it broke, I turned it on, and the noise was cut off. The power LED on the control pod didn't come on. Flipping the switch had no effect.

I looked inside and saw nothing obviously wrong. The two fuses checked out visually and with a multimeter. The power switch also tested fine.

I ended up throwing out the sub. I found some forum threads where the older subs died again quickly after repairs – speculation was cheap components failing due to heat from a poor design.

I'm thinking about getting a Lepai LP-2020A+ amp to run the satellites (4-ohm, according to a search). It's highly recommended at $20. [thread=2260882]This thread[/thread] discusses both the LP-2020A+ and Klipsch ProMedia sets (with working subs). I don't really want another sub due to living in an apartment.

I bought a cheap Cyber Acoustics CA-3602 2.1 set when the sub died. Reviews are split between "great for the price" and "worst speakers ever". It seems adequate to me.

Too late I suppose, but there are replacement AMPs specifically made to fit in Sub boxes.

Do you know of a replacement AMP that would fit in the Klipsch Promedia subwoofer? I'm sure the speakers in the woofer still work, just the AMP is busted.

I tried to search for one out of curiosity, but I didn't know exactly what I was looking for.

I got a LP-2020A+. Newer stock comes with a Bukang adapter labeled as 3A, which is supposedly a big upgrade over the old, sketchy Vonage 2A one. The ProMedia satellites have weak lows without a sub, but I expected that.

I also ordered the Lepai, just to reuse the satellites. I have the old 4.1 system and my sub broke back in March. I had a friend try to replace the parts mentioned in other forum posts, but it didn't succeed.

I'm curious though, even though the amp died, I'm sure the speakers in the subwoofer are still functional. It would be a shame to throw that out if I can find something to drive those as well.

Any suggestions?
