Summary: People haven't really changed much in a long time, and the same stories just keep getting retold over and over again.
You know how babies or toddlers think it's the greatest thing in the world when they discover things like screaming in a place that echoes, or the fact that cats are fuzzy? Adults are not immune to these sorts of things.

Why do anything like invest a single shred of creative effort into creating an interesting and engaging story, when you can throw a bunch of digital artists and graphic designers at a computer lab, and also toss some VHS tapes from the 1980s into the room, and come back with something that brings in dozens or hundreds of billions of dollars?No matter how much you gussy it up its a remake.
