KR7A-133R vs 2200XP

I have an Abit KR7A-133R that I've had for a few months. It has been housing a T-Bird 900 oced anywhere from 933 to 1100 that was purchased 2 years ago this month. I finally picked up a new 2200XP, (AIRGA stepping should it matter) and tried to upgrade.
I can't get the cpu to boot at all. The bios is up to date, cmos has been reset and I still get nothing. My friend tried the cpu out and it works fine but my motherboard will not recognize it. I've pulled all the cards out less vid and the same response. Tried a diff Graph card, nothing. This is the link to the bios I used. I used the 2.31 because that supported the 2200 and the 2.32 did not have it listed. I tried the 2.32 after I couldn't get the 2.31 to run with the new cpu to get only the same response. I have a global win heatsink with a delta fan and everything stays pretty cool so I'm basically uncertain what to do. Obviously a new MSI FISR board or the ABIT equivalent are two answers to my problem but I'm sure this board should handle it. I have a 1600XP in it on loan oced to a 1700 with no issue. Sorry this was long but details are imperative and I hate to have to post again explaining what I have for a rig.

fyi:

400W Pwr Supply
Twin 20G ATA133 Maxtors in RAID 0
768 Kingston DDR 2100
GF4 TI4600

As far as I know(I own a KR7A-RAID) these boards do not truly support the T-Breds Athlon XP 2200 and up...supposedly Abit did not expect a change on the chip so they do not work well with these boards..once again a dead end mobo

you can check at AMDMB.com forums for more info

For those having the same issues, I was directed to this link. I haven't been able to apply this method but I'll let you all know how I make out.

Abit has an updated BIOS version = 9N that released on June 7th, 2002 - ABIT BIOS UPDATE - that updated the function of the KR7-133R Motherboard to accept
and operate with the XP2200+ T'bred CPU's - and it includes the RAID 2.31 update.
Are you sure that you did not download and try to flash the BIOS for the KX7-333R board by mistake?

You can try to Re-Flash your BIOS, but download ONLY from the ABIT site, and READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and UNDERSTAND the sequence.
Make sure the floppy is a clean disc, with absolutely nothing else on it. Get both the AWARD FLASH UTILITY, and the BIOS UPDATE on the
same floppy. You cannot flash directly from the Download File, as it has to load into the BIOS before the boot sequence.
You also MUST TURN OFF the BIOS Virus Protection feature in the BIOS prior to the flash attempt, as it prevents writing to the BIOS.

I appreciate the info but you really aren't telling me anything. I own 4 Abit boards and am very aware how and where to deal with the BIOS. The problem is within ABIT's hardware but may be bypassed by modding the cpu or the motherboard. You can also RMA the motherboard back to ABIT for a $25.00 fee and they will make the modification but they do not claim support for anything beyond the 2200's. I am currently looking into the chip mod and will post as to how I make out. I also have a slew of links if anyone else has encountered this issue.

I couldn't get the L1 cuts or the L3 #5 bridge methods to work. I'm beginning to thing there is no way to get a 2200 to run in these boards. If anyone has a new idea for me to butcher my set up and try, throw it out here. I'm not content until I burn another 2200 up or just wreck my mobo.
