KR7A-Raid won't boot. DOA?

Ok, here's the deal...

When turning on the computer, the monitor doesn't display anything, and the new KR7A-Raid board just beeps at me in 4 second intervals.

I triple-checked everything. Nothing wrong with power supply. All (and I mean ALL) connections are correct. I took out everything except one stick of ram and video card. I tried different video cards. I reset the CMOS. Oh, and my heatsink/fan has the bigger 4pin connector, so I can't plug it into the FAN1 header. I thought maybe the mobo was turning itself off because it wasn't detecting a cpu fan. So I plugged a 3pin cpu fan into the FAN1 header, but no luck.

It's obvious the mobo isn't sending a signal to the video card, or anything else. It just beeps...

Should I send it back to the vendor and demand an exchange???

Hmmmm sounds as if the bad AGP slot problem of the KG7's may have carried over to some KR7's.........mine was fine but.........
BTW....if you have a PCI video card, use it and that may tell the story.........DO NOT keep messing with the AGP slot though......I lost a GF3 on my first KG7 that way................

Damn! I hate being a liar. Guess what the problem was? The ddr ram wasn't properly seated.

Apparently, people are having trouble seating the ram on the KR7A boards because the two locking mechanisms for each ram stick actually snap into place before the ram is all the way down!

Abit tech. support said this is a "user awareness" problem, but I tend to think of it as a design flaw. The locking doo-hickies shouldn't snap until the ram is fully seated, like it is with sdram...

You've got me worried about the operability of my own kr7a-r, which is winging its way overseas at this very moment.

Yep, I have had the same problems. There definitely is an issue with seating the ram on these boards. It is much easier on my BH6. I don't know if ddr is any more difficult, but it does not seem it should be. Took me dozens of tries to get 1 stick working, I have not gotten the other in yet (tried 4 times, and had to quit to go to a party... )

man im tired of all these people talking smack about the agp slot not working "design flaw carried over... i like to see myself type", people need to compare their own skill with the skill of the engineers that designed the motherboard... 99 out of 100 it is user error

I noticed RAM seating problem with my old KT7 as well.... Seems to be an ongoing problem.
