That's unfortunate, they should have let her file an insurance claim before they revealed that they had her on tape.

The surveillance system doesn't have audio, so there's no "I've fallen and I can't get up" moment. It's just the news anchor narrating. Lady fell, required "fire rescue" (I assume their EMTs are part of the fire department there). Surveillance camera showed that she had previously been in that aisle and dumped olive oil on the floor.

Well, if that were the case she'd have ended up paying court and/or lawyer fees, etc... She would then proceed to get on the welfare system and get free money anyways.

serious, let her file an insurance claim first, then provide the vid, and have her put in prison for insurance fraud.

Why? Then he'd have to deal with months/years of hassle and thousands of dollars of attorney fees. Sure, he could possibly win some of that back in court (you often don't get fees back for attorneys before it reaches court, just the during court fees are awarded). Even if he gets all money back, it isn't with interest. And, that is a damn lot of time spent just so that you can get revenge on her.

No, publically humiliating her and preventing any lawsuit is the faster, cheaper, and better option.

Haha, saw that earlier. What an idiot. I'm glad her family and friends get to see what a low life she is.

Hey, we probably pay for her one way or another... stick her in prison where she doesn't add to our other costs. Let her be an example to anyone else who wants to try this crap. If they let her off easy, the next 100 scammers are going to think, "if I succeed, I'll make a million. If I fail, they won't do anything."

Why?

Because I don't think there is any law against throwing yourself on the ground in a grocery store. If she filed an insurance claim, she could actually be punished for what she was trying to do.
