I think if he continues to get into the kind of foul trouble he was getting into during the playoffs, he's a bust. He needs to stop trying to score and focus on playing solid defense. And they also won a title with Vujacic and Farmar. That doesn't mean anything. Artest is a great player and having him only helps them defensively and with toughness which EVERYONE knows they need. Why would Kobe get mad? Kobe and Artest and friends. I think everyone here forgets this.

Ariza only played well in the playoffs. Not even a proven player.

And Odom doesn't really secure the Lakers - there's still no reliable backup big men for them. Bynum is still unproven, so who else is there?

Artest was not a bust for them on the Rockets. He's a big part of the reason why they even got the the second round which they have NEVER gotten to before.

Vujacic and Farmar were not anywhere near the top 4 guys on the team. Ariza was. Argument doesn't work.

Friendship doesn't mean shit when they step on the court. Artest is certifiably insane and he WILL sulk and his already slowing D will suffer even more when he doesn't get to chuck shots up. And guess what? Kobe will not let him lay bricks all night just to make him happy. Ariza played D regardless and didn't need 30 shots a game to be happy. He was also a killer from 3pt in the playoffs, you will not get that with Artest
